the season. “We’re always looking for ballplayers,” Nathe said. “We’re practicing inside. Now all we need is some nice weather.”
Hill breaks state scoring record Minneapolis South senior Tayler Hill scored 32 points in Tuesday’s 71-58 victory over Minneapolis Roosevelt, becoming the highest scoring player in the history of Minnesota high school girls basketball. Hill, who now has 3,701 points, passed Katie Ohm on the all-time list. Ohm scored 3,694 points at Elgin-Millville before heading to the University of Minnesota in 2006. Hill’s record is being disputed by some basketball fans.
A pair of basketball historians have differing point totals for Hill. Kevin Anderson, who the basketball web site www.kjasr.com has Hill with 3,598 points, while Matt Pederson, who established a state basketball records web site, has Hill at 3,600 points. Hill’s father, Paul, claims the 100 point discrepancy is from incorrect box scores early in her career. No matter which total is right, Ohm’s record is in jeopardy. Hill is averaging 31.7 points per game and has three more regular season games and at least one playoff game remaining.
Hoeg transfers to Jamestown College Litchfield High School graduate Hans Hoeg is transferring from the University of Wisconsin-River
Falls to Jamestown College in North Dakota. Hoeg played basketball for three seasons at River Falls and has one year of eligibility remaining. “Hans has a well-rounded game in that he scores, rebounds and defends,” Jamestown coach Jeff Trumbauer said. “It would be nice if he could spend more than one season in our program, but I think he is determined to make the most of it, and I know he will be a great leader for our young guys.” Hoeg averaged 12.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore at River Falls. He also led all Division III players by converting 93.4 percent of his free throw attempts. Hoeg led River Falls in scoring (17.2 ppg) and rebounding (5.2 rpg) as a junior.
