It’s immunization week for infants Scott County Public Health is promoting childhood immunizations as part of the local observance of National Infant Immunization Week from April 23-30. Scott County Public Health is reminding the public that it offers Monday walk-in immunization clinics weekly at 792 Canterbury Road Suite A160 in Shakopee, with registration from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Immunizations available through the Minnesota Vaccine for Children Program MnVFC for Uninsured or Underinsured infants, children and adolescents are: DTaP, Td or Tdap, Hib, PCV13, Polio, MMR, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Gardasil and Menactra. “National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) provides a valuable opportunity for our community to tell people how important it is for children to be vaccinated,” said Merrilee Brown, director of public health nursing, in a press release. “Childhood vaccinations are one of the best ways for parents to protect their children against vaccine-preventable diseases.” The week can also serve as a reminder to check your child’s immunizations records and make sure they are up-to-date in their shots. one customer at a time. It’s a state-regulated business, and restrictions disallowing tattooing to go on in people’s homes in Jordan would be a prejudicial decision by the council, Fink said, citing the e-mail. It’s “sort of like them turning their nose up at pawnshops,” Fink read. It’s a “slippery slope,” she said, quoting the e-mail. “By the way, I have a tattoo. Watch out for me.” Compiled by Mathias Baden

Malz stopped short of giving a reason why, though, saying he
“never can figure out this out.” “We had a good month,” Malz said. Compiled by Mathias Baden

Last week, police target distractions Drivers texting, talking, eating, reading, fiddling with the radio, shaving – and involved in other distracting actions – were the focus of local law enforcement personnel during an educational push coupled with enhanced enforcement effort last week. Agencies taking part in the extra enforcement include the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and police departments in Shakopee, Savage, Prior Lake, New Prague, Belle Plaine and Jordan. Driver distraction is a leading factor in crashes in Minnesota, accounting for at least 20 percent of all crashes annually, resulting in 70 deaths and 350 injuries. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) Office of Traffic Safety reports these numbers are vastly underreported due to the challenges of determining “distraction” as a contributing crash factor.
