Putnam County High School Mr. Clayton J. Theisinger Principal Dear Parent/Guardian of PCHS Student: As part of the ongoing efforts to improve teaching, learning, and post-secondary preparation of all students, two major changes have been made to our handbook for the 2017-2018 school year. These changes were developed over the course of the past school year by administration and faculty with feedback offered by students from all high school grade-levels. The Board of Education approved these changes during the Spring 2017 semester. The first change to note is the transition from the previous grading scale to a ten-point scale. The purpose of this change is to align our grading throughout the district and with post-secondary education options. This new grading scale is also intended to provide clearer communication of students’ progress in their respective courses. Full details of this scale can be found on page 34 of the student handbook. For quick reference, this new scale is as follows: Interval 100% - 98% 97% - 93% 92% - 90% 89% - 88% 87% - 83% 82% - 80% 79% - 78% 77% - 73% 72% - 70% 69% - 68% 67% - 63% 62% - 60%
