Farmers are holding onto a higher percentage of their crop for household consumption than typical years due to lower yields, in addition to holding marketable production in expectation of further price increases. Famine Early Warning System FE WS NE T The UN Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS Net), is projecting that all of East Africa will stay under the same level of food insecurity or worsen moving to the medium term projection of February to May. The continuing poor rains and conflict in South Sudan are causing constraints on markets.
