You will need: a Qbo capsule of your choice fresh, cold water UHT milk with 1.5% fat content for milk specialties if you have the MILK MASTER
Preparing coffee
If you have activated the “Automatic rinse” (recommended setting), a small amount of water will be rinsed through the tubes and dispensed into the drip tray below a few moments after switching on. You can activate or deactivate the automatic rinse in the settings menu (also see the online manual “Automatic rinse”). The machine will then automatically switch to the drinks menu.
Read the safety warnings carefully before using and only use the product as described in these instructions to avoid accidental injury or damage.

The machine can be turned on in three different ways: m Press the dial.
m You may want to place a small container under the coffee spout to catch the rinse water.
m Open the lever on the machine. m Reach into the small gap on the side of the water tank and pull out the water tank.

m Connect the MILK MASTER (if you have already used it with the machine).

m Fill the water tank with fresh, clear tap water up to the max. mark.

m Slide the water tank back into the machine as far as it will go.

If you would like to create a milk specialty with the MILK MASTER, proceed with step 5. If you do not have the MILK MASTER or would prefer a coffee without milk, proceed with step 9.

m Turn the motor unit of the MILK MASTER counterclockwise as far as it will go. m Remove the motor unit from the milk carafe.
m Fill the MILK MASTER with a sufficient amount of milk. The best kind of milk to use is ultra-heat treated (UHT) milk with a fat content of 1.5%. The milk should be well cooled (7°C and colder).
m Fold up the panel for the MILK MASTER connection socket as far as it will go and hold it there. m Insert the MILK MASTER into the connection socket as illustrated as far as it will go. You should hear and feel the panel click into place in the MILK MASTER. The MILK MASTER must be pushed in all the way. Only then will the machine automatically proceed to the next step.

m Place a glass or cup for your drink under the coffee spout.
You can place small cups on the pull-out cup tray. Doing so will decrease the distance to the coffee spout and prevent coffee splattering around the cup. m Pull out the cup tray as needed.

m Place the motor unit back on the milk carafe. m Turn the motor unit clockwise as far as it will go.

m Insert a Qbo capsule in the machine. The “Q” must be facing forwards on the capsule. If you have activated the “Capsule information” on the machine, a short description of the coffee in the inserted capsule will appear. The “Capsule information” can be activated or deactivated in the settings menu.
Preheating your cup with hot water In order for coffee to best develop its full aroma when brewed, it helps to preheat the cup with hot water - especially with small cups (e.g. for espresso). m Press the maintenance menu button .

m Select the menu option Heat your cup (1.). m Press the dial (2.) to select Start heating cup.
m Wait for about 3 seconds or press the dial to switch to the drinks menu.

m Select the drink of your choice with the dial. The little star in the display will show you the recommended way to prepare the coffee in this particular capsule (e.g. espresso).

m Press the dial to start preparation. m Wait until “Enjoy your drink” is displayed. Only then is the preparation complete! We recommend that you always rinse out the MILK MASTER immediately after preparing drinks with milk. A notification to do so will automatically be displayed on the machine. You can also rinse out the MILK MASTER between drinks or at a later time (also see the online manual “Rinsing the MILK MASTER”).

m Turn the dial to increase or decrease the amount of water. m Wait until “Heating of cup completed” is displayed. The machine will then automatically switch to the drinks menu.
Stopping preparation early m During preparation, press the dial to stop the process early. The display will show “Brewing is being canceled” and the capsule will be ejected into the capsule container. The machine will be ready to prepare another coffee once the drinks menu is displayed again.

Changing the strength of the coffee If the coffee is too strong or too weak for your taste, you can change it to fit your preference. Proceed as follows: m While the coffee is being prepared, turn the dial either clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the amount of water used. Doing so will not permanently save the setting for the amount of water. However, you can change and permanently save your setting for the amount of water used in the Qbo App.
Changing the amount of milk froth If you would like to increase or decrease the amount of milk while the froth is bring prepared, proceed as follows: m While the milk froth is being prepared, turn the dial either clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the amount of milk froth. Doing so will not permanently save the setting for the amount of milk. However, you can change and permanently save separate settings for milk and milk froth in the Qbo App.
