Above mentioned numbers are for the quarter. High and low for the quarter are on trading basis and not closing basis.
Analysis and Overview The pressure on TASI followed from the previous quarter as it registered a multi-year closing low of 5,460 points on January 20, which coincided with Brent also hitting a multi-year low of $27.88. This was the turning point for both Brent as well as TASI, as they adopted a gradual uptrend and closed the quarter at 6,223 points (-9.8% Q/Q) and Brent closing the quarter at $39.60. Average daily volume (number of shares traded) for 1Q16 improved to 282 mln from previous quarter’s 223 mln.
Statistics For 1Q2016: •
At the end of 1Q2016 Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) closed at 6,223 points, down by 2,556 points or -29.1% over the close of the same period last year. The highest closing for the index during the period was 6,952 points on January 03, 2016.

Total equity market capitalization at the end of 1Q2016 reached SAR 1,438 bln ($ 383.4 bln), decreasing by -24.3% over the close of the same period last year.
•
The total value of shares traded for 1Q2016 reached SAR 368.3 bln ($ 98.2 bln), declining by -35.5% over the same period of the previous year.
