ANSWER 1.Brain Teaser A lilypad doubles in size each day. In 28 days, the lilypad will cover the entire pond. Question : In how many days will the pond be half covered?

Answer : 27 days 2.Underlying Message This illustrates D.Kahneman's idea of two systems of thinking i.e Fast and Slow Thinking(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thinking,_Fast_and_Slow). Our brain uses heuristics (mental shortcuts) to make life easier. In the above example, our normal intuitive answer (Fast Thinking) would be 14 days i.e half of 28 days. If one were to apply Slow Thinking we would arrive at the logical answer of 27 days which is the correct answer. One first has to be aware of the two systems and apply conscious effort to apply both Fast and Slow in appropriate situations.
