READING WITH SIGHT WORDS

You can help children learn to love reading by making it simple!

PROVIDE VALUABLE READING SKILLS Repetition is a key component when developing vocabulary. Sight word flash cards can help children become familiar with words and strengthen their reading skills. MAKE FLASH CARDS! Many families might not be aware of a simple project that can help further their child’s knowledge with vocabulary. You can help a child get a head start on their education by creating a sight words booklet for parents to use with their young children that are learning to read and recognize these words.

HOW TO MAKE A SIGHT WORDS BOOKLET • Materials: notecards or cardstock paper, pen or markers, metal ring (optional), hole punch (optional) • In plain font with all lower case letters, write one sight word on each notecard • •

Once all the notecards have a word on them, make sure they are all facing the same way and hole punch a corner where you want to put the metal ring (optional); you can also choose a bright rubber band to keep them together

Place the ring in the hole on the notecards to keep them all together
