Ready for Retrofit breakfast: External Wall Insulation (EWI) explained [Bristol seminar] Venue: City of Bristol College, Ashley Down Centre, Bristol Date and time: 08:00 – 10:00, Wednesday 27th February Cost: Free (funded by the Ready for Retrofit programme) To register for the event click here.

The external wall insulation (EWI) market is set for rapid growth through government focus on funding solid wall insulation solutions and the rising cost of heating. This event is designed to quickly give you an idea of the market, technical overview of the process, pros and cons, and a live demonstration. The Energy Company Obligation provides £1.3b of funding per year for a range of energy efficiency measures but a large part will focus on solid wall insulation (SWI). The government want to see a four-old increase in SWI installations reaching 120,000 per year by 2015 and currently there are not enough installers to deal with this increase. Other initiatives are also stimulating the EWI market including the current £2.8m Bristol Home Energy Upgrade programme and the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive, due for launch in summer 2013. EWI brings together many general building skills but there are intricacies to the design process, and application needs to follow strict warranty guidelines to ensure eligibility for government backed schemes. The event is funded by the Ready for Retrofit programme which is supporting growth in the energy efficiency retrofit sector. Eligible SMEs can access fully-funded business support, which could be used to assist diversification into the EWI market, and a development voucher of £500. Come along and find out how your business could take advantage of this opportunity. Speakers:  Steve Keitley, General Manager at Parex Ltd., Render Systems and Solutions – UK marketleader for rendered facade systems. Approved Systems Designer status from INCA and Ofgem accreditation for full European Technical certifications. 

Lucy Pedler, Director of Archipeleco (Bristol-based Architecture firm, specialising in sustainable design) and Green Register (offering expert and unbiased training on sustainable building practices). Also a panellist for the Bristol Urban Design Forum (advising on projects submitted to Bristol City Council for planning permission).
