The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa Scottsdale, Arizona The Real Property Law Section is pleased to announce that the 2016 Winter Conference will be held at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. Enjoy the sprawling Southwestern-style family-friendly resort, located in the heart of “new” Scottsdale. The real estate market continues to trend up along with the economic recovery. The 2016 RPLS Winter Conference will feature a variety of real estate development topics presented by experts in their field from both Arizona and Michigan. The featured presentation will be an interactive panel discussion by renowned expert Michigan lawyers in the roles of landlord’s counsel, tenant’s counsel and lender’s counsel looking at a long-term lease for a “build-to-suit” large-scale warehouse/ industrial facility, including discussions of land acquisition, lender financing, and tenant improvement concerns. The program will also include presentations on hotel and resort development; tribal (American Indian) law and what unique issues exist as a potential trap for the unwary; water law, with a comparison of Arizona and Michigan issues; opinion letters in real estate transactions; what’s hot in Arizona real estate activity; and the always entertaining “State of the Law” update addressing the key recent cases and legislation affecting the real estate practitioner. This will be an informative and engaging program which will offer something of interest to everyone and an excellent opportunity to network with your fellow section members.
