Reception- Autumn Term 2 2015- Theme –Pirates and Christmas Theme -Spring and Growth Over the next few weeks we will be working on the topic ‘Pirates’. Just before we break up for the holidays we will be learning all about ‘Christmas’.
Role Play Our role play is a Pirate Ship. Children will have the opportunity to ‘play’ different roles, learn about life on the sea, learn about different countries. For Christmas the Role Play will be a santa’s grotto. Children will learn how to wrap parcels, design and make gifts, take orders and write telephone messages. Main books –My granny is a pirate. Pirate Pete, The Night Pirates, The Pirates Next door, The Pirate Cruncher and rhymes and poems. The Christmas Story and other Christmas books.

Parental Support You can help your child by playing number games with them to help with number recognition. Look at numbers around them in the environment. Also practice your child’s sound book and reading book for 5 minutes every night.
