Reception have enjoyed another very busy half term. As you can see from our photographs above we have experienced lots of different creative activities. Fancy writing your name with a carrot anyone? This fun activity fired lots of different neurons in our brain and helped with fine motor control. Also Gravity painting was very popular; the children could explain how the force of Gravity pulled the runny paint down their pictures. We also made our Pinwheel Galaxy Biscuits working with running icing and cocktail sticks. In maths the children have worked with addition and subtraction and also pattern work and estimation. We’ve learnt “most” and “least” and “one more” and “one less”. In Literacy the children have been writing stories with characters including princesses, witches, princes, zombies and Godzillas! This half term’s new “sounds” New sounds- ear as in fear, ure as in mature, and air as in pair It would really help your child if you could practice these sounds and words at home. Ask them to teach you the actions for each sound! In P.E. we have learnt how to move equipment correctly and work as part of a team.
Looking forward to Summer 1 The children will be continuing to use the shop as a means of applying our addition and subtraction skills. We will also be learning about People who help us, as well as Animals and Birds. Hopefully we will be visiting Washington Wildfowl Park to den build and have a campfire.
