Red Hen Frenzy
Red Hen Frenzy The children in Reception really enjoyed the Little Red Hen story that was performed in their Harvest Festival on Thursday 12th October. When we got back in to the classroom they were very keen to act out the story themselves and decided to make their own masks. Lots of learning opportunities came out of this interest. First the children independently chose the resources that they needed. Then they drew a picture of their chosen animal and cut it out
Next they used their maths knowledge and showed lots of perseverance to cut strips and add them together until the band fit around their head. They did lots of testing!!
Khloe decided that she didn’t want to make a band. She stuck a lolly pop stick to the back and decided to hold the mask in front of her face.
All of the children were very proud of their work and enjoyed explaining to the rest of the class how they made their mask. They used them to act out the ‘Little Red Hen’ story.
