Regional Beach Sand Project 5

The San Diego Regional Beach Sand Project is widening beaches from Imperial Beach to Oceanside by adding approximately 1.5 million cubic yards of clean, high quality sand to our eroded shoreline.

Estimated Replenishment Timeline The Regional Beach Sand Project is coming to Carlsbad! South Carlsbad: Placement of approximately 140,000 cubic yards of clean, beach quality sand will begin in early November and last approximately eight days. Sand placement will extend south of Palomar Airport Road and end near the south end of Oceanview Drive. A large offshore pipe has been placed on the beach and will remain in place for the duration of this project. North Carlsbad: Placement of approximately 200,000 cubic yards of clean, beach quality sand will begin in mid- to late November and last approximately eleven days. Sand placement will extend south from the Buena Vista Lagoon to end near Carlsbad Village Drive. A large offshore pipe has been placed on the beach and will remain in place for the duration of this project. Work will occur 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The mobilization of equipment and/or restricted vehicle access around South and North Carlsbad will occur up to two weeks prior to sand placement. As equipment is placed and pipes brought onshore, please use caution while on the beach and in the water. All areas will be clearly marked. The demobilization of equipment will occur immediately following placement.
