Regulating Pressure Control Valve Spring 68942-01 1 Regulating Pressure Control Valve Spring Note: Fits '99 & earlier 722.6 units with 2 valves in the control pressure regulator bore. Will not fit later units with single valve line-up and 3.10” long spring, body casting #R1402773801.
Spring
Instructions: 1. It is not necessary to remove the valve body. Simply remove the pan and locate the right rear valve retaining plate on the valve body. This also is near the solenoid case connector. 2. With the retaining plate removed, the second valve line-up from the back (third bore in) is the regulating pressure control valve assembly. The spring is located between the two valves. 3. Inspect the spring for an average free length of 2.055" and check that the coils are spaced evenly from one end to the other. More than likely the spring is much shorter in length with the center coils screwed into each other. 4. At this time, carefully unscrew the spring. Put the two halves of the spring together and remeasure for the 2.055" free length. 5. If it becomes obvious that some coils are missing, it may become necessary to remove and disassemble the valve body to remove the wandering coils.
