REMU BIG FLOAT Your access to unreachable locations REMU Big Float is a unique amphibious excavator designed to work in most challenging environments. It can be driven on solid land, through shoreline and to shallow water areas that cannot be reach by normal excavator or by boat. As it’s totally floating, it’s also able to move on swamp where it is impossible for a man to walk. Big Float is designed and developed in Finland where thousands of lakes and peat swamps has offered enough challenges and possibilities to test different working methods. When seeing practical problems, and even traditional excavators sinking to swamp, we have realized the need for safe and productive working method.

UPPER STRUCTURE As a customer you are free to choose any widely known excavator brand to be mounted. Once you decide which brand excavator you want, REMU’s team will do the rest, to deliver a 100% ready to operate amphibious excavator.

PONTOON UNDERCARRIAGE Pontoons are manufactured in three sizes. Each excavator to be mounted, is carefully weighted and measured to assure the needed stability and buoyancy from pontoons. Pontoons are also available without upper structure.

PONTOON UNDERCARRIAGE Reliability comes with carefully engineered details Big Float undercarriage is built to survive trough changing terrains. Shape of the pontoon together with powerful drive motors are designed to give best mobility in the worst surroundings. Strong and proven chain structure is the same as in a normal excavator, offering reliable performance. Big Float pontoon undercarriage is a unique platform that creates a safe working environment in otherwise unsafe locations. Each part of the pontoon is a result of careful study. Abrasion resistant steel is used in every parts of the pontoons that receive most shocks caused by uneven surfaces. Furthermore, each pontoon is divided in baffle sections, to secure floating.

WHY TO CHOOSE REMU BIG FLOAT? • Better outreach compared to working from barge • Tracks and chains same as in any normal excavator, strong, and proven quality. • Pontoon structure with baffle sections guarantee safe floating • Patented Technology EP 1727687 and US Pat. 7,588,106

Patented narrowed pontoon undercarriage structure. Hydraulically adjusted For an easy mobility and transportation in public roads.

Durable Track System

REMU Big Float pontoons can be hydraulically adjusted. This feature allows the operator to pull the pontoons together when passing through narrow gaps and then spread them apart to achieve a steady position for operations.

Ground Pressure less than 110 g/cm2

Two speed track drive The driving power of Big Float comes from standard excavator planetary gear motors with massive maximum torque of 56 kNm per motor. High speed mode for easy terrain.

REMU BIG FLOAT Built to operate in every situation

Digging dredging and Suction dredging

All kind of digging dredging in shallow water areas down to 9 meters can be done with Big Float. Removing mud or stones, transforming reservoir banks or cleaning industrial waste ponds are the most common applications for Big Float. Big Float can also operate as a tool carrier for suction dredging equipment.

Building Filtering Dam to a Peat Swamp

When swamp is used for peat production, humus may leach as a result of drainage or peat extracting. Big Float has been used for building a dam to filter humus out of water before it streams into the surrounding water system.

Dredging Intake Channels and Reservoir in Hydro Power Plant Sediment that is piling on the bottom of the intake channels and reservoir of barrage of hydro power plant, can be dredged with Big Float to maintain sufficient flow for the plant’s operations.

Cleaning Channels

Big Float is easy to operate also in channels and other narrow water ways. Trashes, leaves and branches from the trees and excess sediment that is piling on the bottom of the channel can be removed with rake or dredging bucket.

Cutting Aquatic Vegetation

Aquatic vegetation that is growing on the bottom of the river or lake can be removed with Big Float and rake. With Big Float it is possible to remove also roots of the plant and thus prevent plants growing back. If it is needed also special hydraulic tools can be used for cutting.

Mining Industry

Big Float can be helpful in many stages in open cast mines. It has been used for example to assist water pumps and other dewatering and damming jobs.

Cutting Bushes from Water Side

Willow trees and other bushes can grow fast and hide the landscape at waterside. With Big Float and a special cutting tool, harvesting can be done fast without leaving excessive marks to the environment.

Landscaping

REMU Big Float can be used for landscaping in swampy areas near river ways and shorelines where conventional machine won’t be able to operate as it can easily slip & sink into the soft ground and get immobilized.
