Retirement Support Group
Retirement Support Group is an idea created by a group of people who work in, or are retired from the energy sector. It is designed to help provide people with information and support they need to know in preparing for retirement, and for people who have already retired to be able to network with other retirees, and mentor those who are not there yet. The topic of this meeting is the need for long-term care and retirement planning , because you never know what can happen on a moment’s notice.
To share his story and the of relevance this topic , we are pleased to welcome our September guest speaker, Antone Chicca. As many of you may know, Antone is a Bakersfield native and currently works for his family farm in Buttonwillow, CA. What some of you may not know, is in Antone’s junior year of college, he was driving to San Francisco for a 49er football game and was in a tragic car accident. He had a low chance of survival and was in a coma for several months. He beat the odds though. Once out of his coma, he had to learn how to walk, talk, read, etc. He is now actively involved in his community and speaks about his recovery and faith. His story is incredible, inspirational and highlights one’s appreciation of life – and how you never know where life will take you and the importance of planning.
