96 Points James Halliday Halliday Wine Companion 2018, August 2017 Compelling and convincing, with florals, currants and blackberries, not too sweet; it has a savoury edge, with the oak seamlessly integrated. Perfectly ripe tannins with poise and presence ensure that this is lovely now, but will be more so in years to come.
94 Points Toni Paterson The Real Review, August 2017 This is a wine that has been built for the future. Highly concentrated dark berry fruits enhanced by subtle quality oak. Deeply-coloured with a density that will allow it to cellar for many years. Plush fruit with warmth on the palate and gentle background savouriness. Chewy, layered tannins. Needs patience and time.
93 Points Huon Hooke The Real Review, September 2017 Deep, saturated purple/red colour, concentrated and very young-looking. The wine is similarly dense, thick, concentrated and essency in the mouth, with masses of drying and astringent tannins. There’s a lot of oak in this wine. Thick, chewy, oaky and dense, with a touch of heaviness. It’s big on concentration but not varietal character or subtlety. It needs years before broaching.
