Rising 5th Grade Summer Reading List Dear Rising Fifth Grade Students and Parents, Fifth grade is a busy, fun, and challenging year! In order to keep your child prepared for fifth grade, please encourage your child to continue reading all throughout the summer. I have enclosed a recommended reading list for fifth grade. In addition to the ongoing support, please have your rising 5th grader complete the required Summer Reading Project. Students will complete one journal entry each for the two (2) required book as part of their summer reading project. They will turn in a total of two (2) journal entries. The two (2) required books: - The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs by Betty G. Birney - The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare In order to earn a dress-down pass, students must read an additional three books. You are not limited to the recommended reading list below. You may select other books to read. Please keep a list of all books on the Summer Reading Log. The Reading Journal Entry should be written in cursive or may be typed.
