Riverwood Herald A publication by the residents of our Riverwood Campus Volume 6 Issue 2 – Spring 2015
The Ice Storm of 2015 During February, we were hit by multiple snow and ice “events.” Thanks to the power outage that lasted several days, our Riverwood residents spent a few nights in a local motel. Below are their thoughts and comments about their unexpected “vacation.” Don’s Snow Vacation: It was fun to stay at the hotel. We had plenty of tea and coffee and food. Especially three or four times I ate pizza. Had a BLAST in the pool. Got baptized by Mom Hannah. Cold water. Love my roommates Jeff, Stacy, and Scott W. They were great. I also enjoyed bowling. Even though it’s been a while, it WAS fun. Gary and Rhonna … I just don’t know where I [would] be if it weren’t for them. Brenda: Having a good time going to the hotel and going out to eat and everything. I had a nice hotel room and everything. We made a lot of new friends because a lot of people were there without power. Glenna: The hotel was ok. I like seeing new people at the hotel. I not like the snow. Frank: Hotel very nice and comfortable; not hurt your back. I enjoy the hotel. I like WonderWorks. Christy: It was nice, very nice. I had a good time. It was hard walking on the ice at Shoney’s. It was cold, too! Bowling was out of sight! Kathleen: Did you have a good time? Yes Did you like the ice? Yes
Did you like the snow? No Was Shoney’s your favorite? Yes
Scott W: [Liked] going to Cracker Barrel, they had sweet tea; going swimming with a bathing suit. Eric had to stay back at the hotel. Should of got Eric in the pool. Like Don, had Stacy and Jeff as roommates. Power went out, power went out. Then we went bowling, went to Wendy’s, got in the pool, went swimming, had a lot of fun in the hotel with Hannah and Eric. Kenny: 1) Going swimming two days; 2) getting Hannah and Eric and baptizing George in the pool. You know, going to Cracker Barrel for supper and getting my things (like liver) to eat. Having fun with Hannah and Eric at the pool Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tom K: We ate food, had pizza and slept there through the night and had more pizza. That’s about it!
One of the disappointments of the bad weather was the cancellation of the annual Prom of the Stars. Everyone had their dresses and tuxedos, but due to the ice on the streets and sidewalks of Knoxville, the prom was rescheduled for May. Well, who are we to miss an opportunity for a party? Below are the pictures of our prom.
