MEMBERS PRESENT John Bertolet, Chairman; Tom Abello, Vice Chairman; Kathy Tibbetts, Secretary; Larry Colcord; Stephanie Hawke; Peggy Splaine; Bruce MacDonald; Sarah Clifford (late 7:00); Adam Harkins; Jane Mulholland; Kristin Malin( late 7:00); Nina Roth-Wells; Colleen Hudson. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Kathy Tibbetts moved and Colleen Hudson seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the December 7, 2015 meeting. Motion approved 11-0 APPROVAL OF COST-SHARING PLAN Larry Colcord moved and Adam Harkins seconded the motion to adopt the following costsharing plan for AOS 98: B-BH CSD 58.85% Edgecomb 18.94 % Georgetown 15.18% Southport 7.03% 100% Motion approved 11-0 STATE OF THE SCHOOLS REPORT EXECUTIVE SESSION Bruce MacDonald moved and Adam Harkins seconded the motion to go into executive session at 6:50 p.m. to evaluate the superintendent, set a contract term and establish a salary for 2017-2018. Time out of session: 8:18 p.m. Motion approved 13-0 EMPLOYMENT OF SPECIAL SERVICES STAFF Bruce MacDonald moved and Tom Abello seconded motion elect Lisa Smith as Special Services Director to a contract from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020. Kathy Tibbetts moved and Adam Harkins seconded the motion to establish a Special Services Director salary of $84,000 and a one-time bonus of $1,680 for the 2017-2018 contract year. Motion approved 13-0 Nina Roth-Wells moved and Adam Harkins seconded the motion to offer the Special Services Director four weeks of vacation time annually. Motion approved 13-0 Nina Roth-Wells moved and Kristin Malin seconded the motion to establish a salary of $36,037 for the Special Services office staff for the 2017-2018 contract year. Motion approved 13-0 Nina Roth-Wells moved and Stephanie Hawke seconded the motion to adopt a 2017-2018 operating budget of $154,797 for the Special Services office. Motion approved 13-0 EMPLOYMENT OF CENTRAL OFFICE STAFF Larry Colcord moved and Adam Harkins seconded the motion to establish salaries totaling $130,094 for the superintendent’s office staff for the 2017-2018 contract year. Motion approved 13-0 ELECTION OF SUPERINTENDENT Larry Colcord moved and Adam Harkins seconded the motion to elect Eileen King as superintendent to a contract from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020. Motion approved 13-0 SUPERINTENDENT’S SALARY Kathy Tibbetts moved and Bruce MacDonald seconded the motion to establish a Superintendent salary of $120,500 with a one-time bonus of $2,410 for the 2017-2018 contract year. *Georgetown request the record show they voted against the salary because the increase voted as a bonus.*Edgecomb requested the record show they voted against the increases due to the Town selectmen’s directives and not for any other reason; regarding the Superintendent or her staff members. Motion approved 13-0 ELECTION OF ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT Jane Mulholland moved and Tom Abello seconded the motion to elect Shawn Carlson as Assistant Superintendent to a contract from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020. Motion approved 13-0 ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT’S SALARY Bruce MacDonald moved and Larry Colcord seconded the motion to establish an Assistant Superintendent salary of $90,177 at 0% increase with a one-time bonus of $1,804 for the 2017-2018 contract. Motion approved 8-5 ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT’S VACATION TIME Larry Colcord moved and Nina RothWells seconded the motion to offer the Assistant Superintendent six weeks of vacation time annually. Motion approved 13-0 OPERATING BUDGET FOR 2017-2018 Larry Colcord moved and Adam Harkins seconded the motion to adopt a 2017-2018 operating budget of $495,714 for the Office of the Superintendent. Motion approved 11-2 Bruce MacDonald moved and Adam Harkins seconded the school committee approve a 2017-2018 AOS 98 operating budget with proposed expenditures of $650,511 and with proposed assessments of $637,491, using a carry forward of $13,020. Motion approved 11-2 ELECTION OF OFFICIALS a. Larry Colcord moved and Adam Harkins seconded the motion to elect John Bertolet as Chairman effective September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018.
