Meeting called to order by S. Boyle at 7:14 pm EST Minutes review Approval of May 2017 minutes postponed until October. Treasurer’s Report G. Drapeau o Balance as is up from where RHLL was last year at this time, primarily due to more fund raising dollars and the recently approved grant. o There are currently no outstanding bills. Baseball update F. Turner o During the summer there were three district teams and four travel teams. o Fall ball has 28 kids playing, most of which are 10 and 11 year olds. Softball Update o During the summer there were two all-star teams, both of which made it to district finals. o Fall ball there are three teams with 34 kids playing (24 RH and 10 Cromwell). Challengers Update T. Cosker o Summer Challenger program had approx. 14 kids participating. o Took a trip to Fenway Park in July. Total of 18 kids (with parents and siblings, 58). o November 14th there is an All-Star Miracle League event in Houston, TX. One challenger player is able to attend and participate from RH. T. Cosker is trying to raise funds to help offset the travel expenses etc. Will discuss fund raising progress in the upcoming meeting to determine if RHLL will also contribute. o Grant update per A. Greenspan: Grant money will be allocated to reimburse the town for new bleachers ($7200), Miracle Field sound system, and equipment storage shed. Key Dates o October 18th: Annual BOD Meeting and positions vote o Field closing: October 28th 8am o Opening day: April 21st / rain date April 28th o Player tryouts: o Pre-tryouts March 4th o Official tryouts March 11th
Fields Update: A. Greenspan o Fields improvement committee to schedule meetings this week for the upcoming months. o Prior to next season we will need to consider purchase of the following: o 1 or 2 more pitchers mounds o New rain tarp needed for softball field (110x110: approx. $3499). Will continue to research and come back to board with more info in upcoming meeting. o New dugout covers for Deresinski (approx. $2000), which would include frames and covering much the same as current Miracle Field. o S. Boyle to follow up with Hartford Fence regarding work that needed to be done this year, some of which has not been completed. New Bats: o New Little League rule for 2018 no longer allows for composite bats to be used. For this upcoming season it is now required that all bats have the official USA approved sticker. This will impact the bat inventory currently used in team-issued bags and will require the purchase of new bats for 2018. Request was made to order 20 new bats - not to exceed $1000. Motion to approve made by F. Turner. 2nd by S. Boyle. All approved. None opposed. None abstained.
