Vancouver, located on Canada’s Pacific coast is spectacular by nature! Surrounded by ocean and a backdrop of lush rainforest, snow-capped mountains and fjords, this “city of nature” is a ethnically diverse, modern and laid-back metropolis renowned for its mix of urban, outdoor and wildlife adventures. Today we embark on a full day of sightseeing in Vancouver as we explore the culture, art and history that comes together to define the city. Our city tour includes the neighborhoods of Gastown, Chinatown, English Bay, Robson Street and Stanley Park, a National Historic Site of Canada featuring 400 hectares of coastal rainforest in the heart of Vancouver. Capilano Suspension Park, most well known for the famed Capilano Suspension Bridge also features history and culture of the Salish First Nation. Take a walk across the famed Capilano Suspension Bridge, surrounded by towering forest hanging high above the Capilano River; the bridge was originally built in 1889. Next we take in Granville Island at the Granville Island Public Market featuring an incredible assortment of food and produce, unique gifts and handcrafted gifts that has all been locally sourced and produced. Our Final Stop is FlyOver Canada a unique experience allows you to journey across Canada from East to West. On this incredible journey of discovery you’ll travel from coast to coast, covering more than 6,000 km – all of this while never leaving Vancouver! Our day begins with a 90 minute ferry crossing through the beauty of the Gulf Islands between Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Once on the island we will make our way to Butchart Gardens, world renowned and designated a National Historic Site of Canada. Enjoy ample time to explore the beauty of these gardens at your leisure. This afternoon we arrive in the city of Victoria, a short orientation tour allows you to get a feel for this unique, British influenced city. Explore the waterfront, and downtown area at your leisure before we depart for our return ferry journey. We arrive back in Vancouver this evening. Overnight: Coast Coal Harbour or Similar
L This morning depart onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops in the heart of British Columbia's interior. Today’s journey will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains. Overnight: Kamloops hotel (provided by Rocky Mountaineer)
Continue eastward with Rocky Mountaineer to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. You will see a spectacular range of scenery as you travel across ranch lands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. DAY 6: May 13 BANFF TOURING (B) Banff is a resort town and one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations. Known for its mountainous surroundings and hot springs, it is a destination for outdoor sports. We begin our tour of Banff today with a Gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain offering a spectacular view of the surrounding Bow Valley. Our tour continues to Bow Falls, Cascade Gardens, the Mysterious hoodoos and Lake Minnewanka. Lake Minnewanka is a glacial lake fed by the Castle River located just outside of Banff town. Indigenous people inhabited areas surrounding the lake as far back as 10 000 years ago according to archaeologists who have discovered tools and speaks around the lake. We join an interpretive cruise of Lake Minnewanka and delve deeper in to the history of this beautiful lake. We continue to Lake Louise, where you will have time at leisure to take in the stunning beauty of this famous lake. Choose to relax by the lake, enjoy a short hike around the lake or discover the famed Chateau Lake Louise. This evening is yours at leisure in Banff. Overnight: Ptarmigan Inn or Similar
DAY 7:
May 14
BANFF – HOME (B) Take this morning to explore the town of Banff at leisure and the numerous shops and boutiques along Banff Avenue. Later we bid farewell to the Rocky Mountains as we transfer to Calgary International Airport for your onward journey.
