June 24, 2015 To: All Potential FALL Baseball Coaches From: Gerry Schmidt, SCRA Baseball Director RE: Coaches Application & Coaches Contract Dear All FALL 2015 Prospective Baseball Coaches, Baseball Registration will take place beginning July 1, 2015 online; and at the park towards the end of July. If you are interested in coaching a team in the FALL of 2015, please fill out and return the below application to the SCRA Baseball Director, Gerry Schmidt (address provided below), by Friday, July 31, 2015. It is very important that we receive the applications by the date indicated in order to begin reviewing the applications to see where we stand regarding the number of coaches needed. Coaches whose applications are not received by the Deadline could lose their returning coach priority status. The South Cherokee Recreation Association Board of Directors will review and begin to make recommendations the week of August 3, 2015. A Pre-Season Player Clinic will be held at SCRA on Sunday, August 2, 2015. Coaches Organizational Meetings & Clinics will be held on August 5, 2015. Player Evaluations will be scheduled for August 8, 2015. Team Drafts will be scheduled for August 11&12, 2015. Practices will be scheduled to begin on August 15, 2015. All Coaches should expect to be at the park for work days on the 2 weekends & Friday night prior to Opening Day (September 5, 2015). ALL Times are TBA and ALL Dates are contingent on weather, registration numbers, available coaches, available venues, and completed evaluations and drafts. Plans for Sponsorship have already been made concerning the upcoming season. If you know of any individual or business that would like to contribute to our program and become a sponsor, please let Sponsorship Director, Greg Hutcheson, know. He can be reached at (678) 687-7022. These monies raised help support the Baseball program with special projects and equipment for teams and players.
On the reverse side of the Application is a Coaches Contract, which contains guidelines to be followed by all coaches in the SCRA Baseball Program. To ensure that all coaches are aware of these guidelines, we are requiring that all prospective coaches read and sign the Coaches Contract and return with your coach’s application. The contract guidelines require nothing more than use of common sense and courtesy when coaching your team. These rules are intended to ensure the enjoyment of SCRA’s Baseball program by all participants. ATTENTION ALL COACHES: All coaches (head or assistants) will be required by to complete and turn in a signed “Consent to Background Check” form. This document must be completed and signed in order for all coaches to be on a coaching staff involved with the teams in any capacity. You cannot coach without this form being signed and turned in, there are no exceptions. The purpose for this form is to protect the children and the integrity of the program. We appreciate your understanding with this delicate situation.

COACHES CONTRACT The SCRA Baseball Board of Directors recommends the below guidelines. They are to be followed and adhered to by all coaches. These guidelines may be amended or superseded by action of The SCRA Baseball Board of Directors. Any additions or revisions will be forwarded at the appropriate time. 1. Be consistent when attending scheduled practices and games. If you are not able to attend a practice or game, communicate and delegate these responsibilities to your assistant coaches / team parent(s). 2. Do not use the position of Head Coach to promote your own welfare, but use the position to protect the welfare of the children. 3. Respect should be given to players, coaches, umpires, fans, league board members, and the game of Baseball. Any profanity, disrespectful / degrading remarks or actions, or violence will not be tolerated. This applies to practices, games, and / or any time you are in the park or representing our park off-site. 4. No physical violence or abuse may be shown towards the players, coaches, umpires, fans, or league board members; including your own family members. 5. Use of Alcohol or Tobacco WILL NOT BE TOLERATED at the facility at any time prior to, during, or after your teams games or practices. 6. Violations of any local league / park rules and / or the Official Playing Rules for any reason could be met with a warning, suspension, and or termination of a Head Coach. 7. Any Head Coach who does not adhere to these guidelines may be given a warning, suspended, or not permitted to coach the following year based on the decision of the SCRA Baseball Board of Directors. 8. Coaches may not take players from our teams to create another team in a different league during the season. 9. Coaches may not deviate from these guidelines or any league rules at any time. REQUIREMENTS: Attend Coaches Meetings, Clinics, Evaluations, Drafts, & Work Days (TBA) Complete Consent To Conduct Background Check Form Communicate SCRA Information To Team and Players Acknowledge Receipt of SCRA Park Playing Rules w/ Signature Provide Signed Frozen Player Agreement Forms Prior To Draft Provide a Sponsor and Team Coordinator Before 1st Game Provide $150 “Hold Check” To Be Returned Once Sponsor $ Submitted to Sponsorship Director Represent SCRA Baseball Professionally & Ethically By signing below, I agree to abide by all rules and policies of S.C.R.A. and certify that all the above information is true and correct. I understand that a criminal background check may be performed and any information obtained will be used when considered for a head coach position.
