The two most expensive closed transactions of the week were two half floor apartments on the 72nd floor of 432 Park Avenue, a supertall luxury skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, according to city records. The pricier of the two nearly identical sponsor units was No. 72A at$30,081,350.31. Its twin, No. 72B, sold for $27,507,062.17. Both apartments sit 930 feet up the 96story tower — the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere at 1,396 feet — and overlook Central Park, the Upper East Side and beyond. The main difference: No. 72A includes eastern exposures overlooking the East River and beyond; No. 72B includes Western sunset views across the Hudson River.

Each 4,019squarefoot aerie has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, one halfbath and a library, with monthly carrying costs that total $16,109. The identities of the buyers of each unit were shielded by limited liability companies. Kathy Sloane of Brown Harris Stevens represented the buyer of No. 72A. Kyle Blackmon, who was at Brown Harris Stevens at the time but is now at Compass, represented the buyer of No. 72B. Mr. Murdoch’s $27.5 million townhouse sale at 278 West 11th Streetwas the third highest recorded deal of the week, closing $1.4 million shy of the $28.9 million asking price. The media mogul acquired the 25footwide mansion, which has four bedrooms, four baths, three partial baths, an elevator and multiple outdoor spaces, including a rooftop terrace with views of the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center, for $25 million in March 2015 but never moved in. Less than five months later, he listed it for $28.9 million with Dolly Lenz of Dolly Lenz Real Estate, before taking it off the market temporarily. Following his March wedding to the former model Jerry Hall, the media mogul put the townhouse back on the market in April. (Mr. Murdoch has decided to keep his penthouse at One Madison Park, which he listed with Ms. Lenz at one point for $72 million.)

A bidding war ensued and the townhouse quickly went into contract, according to Ms. Lenz, who handled the sale. With multiple buyers competing for the property, she said, “it became a nightmare in terms of keeping everybody calm.” On the garden level is a Poggenpohl kitchen and a breakfast room that opens out to a threelevel terraced garden, which borders the Bleecker Gardens on one side, according to Ms. Lenz. The parlor floor includes a marble entry, a bedroom and a great room with a fireplace and floor toceiling windows, with doors that open to a Juliet balcony overlooking the gardens. A sweeping elliptical staircase leads to the master bedroom suite with a marble fireplace, a dressing room and a master bath that spans the width of the house. The top floor has two additional bedrooms with
