ART! CLE I
NAME OF ORGANIZATION The name of this organization shall he the Student Geography Organization/Gamma Theta Upsilon of the University of Wisconsin at River Falls and hereafter referred to as S.G.O./GTU, S.G.O. or G.T.U. as applicable.
ARTICLE II
PURPOSE The purpose of this organization shall be to: A. Promote student interest in the discipline of geography. B. ExplDre the job market open to geography majors and minors. C. Explore new concepts in the field of geography. O. Pro~ote intra-departaental relations E. Promote inter-disciplinary cooperation. F. Enable student me.bership in G.T.U., the International Honor Society in Geography.
ARTICLE III
MEMBERSHIP Secti on l: Membership inS. G. O. shall be open to all students and faculty of UW-RF, memberships being classified as follows: A. ACTIVE REGULAR MEMBERS - Students and faculty at UW-RF whose dues have been paid. These Regular Members have voting and alJ other rights and privileges in the organization. B. INACTIVE REGULAR MEMBER - Signed ~embers whose dues have not been paid under the provision of Article I of the laws of this document. Inactive Me&bers have all rights and privileges of the S.G.O. except for voting. C. ALUMNI MEMBER - Past Active Regular Member who is no longer at UW-RF. Alumni Me~bers retain all rights and privileges except voting. D. HONORARY MEMBER - Any person whom the .e.bership at large feels has contributed to the advance.ent of the geography field and/or the S.B.O. No dues, rights, or privileges will be assocated with an Honorary Me~ber ship. Such membership will be decided upon by a majority vote at a regular meeting.
Section 2. No member may be removed from membership without first having an open hearing and then by no less than a 2/3 vote at a Regular Meeting. Section 3. The S.G.O. allows participation in the organization by all people, regardless of race, creed, ethnic background, sex or sexual preference. Section 4. Qualification for ~e~bership in G.T.U. as a Regular, Associate, or Honorary Member shall be established as outlined in the national G.T.U. Constitution. ARTIVLE IV
ARTICLE V
OFFICERS Section 1.
Officers of this organization shall be Honorary Chairperson (the faculty adviso~, President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and other officers that are d~emed necessary by future members.
Section 2.
There shall be one set of officers, being the officers of S.G.O./G.T.U.
Section 3.
Terms of Office: All Officers shall be elected at the April Regular Meeting of each year, and assu~e office on May I of the same year. Nominations will be taken at the Regular Meeting in March of each year.
Section 4.
Officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the me.bership at large.
Section 5.
No officer shall be re~oved fro. office without first holding an open hearing and then by no less than a 2/3 vote at a Regular Meeting.
Section 6.
Student Eligibility: Candidates for office must be a member of S.G.O. in good standing, a geography major or minor, and must qualify under the guidelines set up by the University.
Section 7.
Office vacancies will be filled by special election at the first Regular Meeting after the vacancy occurs.
MEETINGS Section 1.
Regular Meetings shall be held approxi.ately every t~o weeks or as necessary, as deemed by the President.
Section 2.
Special Meetings may be called by the President or upon request of any 257. of the Active Regular Members.
Section 3. All members must be notified of a special meeting
at least 48 hours before the time of such special
meeting.
ARTCLE VI
QUORUM The quorum of this organization shall consist of 507. of the ~embership.
ARTICLE VII
CONSTITUTIONAL RATIFICATION AND AMENDMENTS Section 1. The constitution shall be ratified by a 2/3
majority vote by the ~embership at large.
Section 2. Amendments and revisions will be made one meeting
after they have been proposed. These a~end.ents
and revisions must be approved by a 2/3 majortiy
vote.
Section 3. All ffleetings shall run in accordance with
Roberts Rules of Order.
BY LAWS
ARTICLE I
MEMBERSHIP FEES Section 1. Dues for S.S.O. shall be $3.00 per .ember per year
or $1.50 per member per quarter payable by the
third Regular Meeting of the Academic Year.
Section 2. All other funds for this organization shall come
from donations and fund-raising.
ARTICLE II
DUTIES OF OFFICERS Section 1. Duties of the President shall be to conduct meetings, give final approval to co~mittee action and act as spokesperson for the organization. Section 2. Duties of the Vice President shall be to act as
President when the President is absent and to
oversee committee action.
Section 3. Duties of the Secretary shall be to keep records of all 5.G.O./S.T.U. correspondence and minutes Df all Regular Meetings. Section 4. Duties of the Treasurer shall be to collect dues
and to .aintain all financial records of the
organization.
ARTICLE III

Section 3. The Finance Committee shall conduct fund-raising drives and assist the Treasurer in ~alntaining financial records. Section 4. The Archives Co~mittee shall keep records of all activities and events of the organization. Section 5. The Activities Co~mittee shall plan and organize all field trips, activities, guest speakers and other event~ of the S.B.O./G. T.U. Section 6.
The Publicity Coamittee shall publicize all public events sponsored by the S.G.O. / G.T.U. and maintain a news-letter at their discretion.
Section 7. Special cOIII.ittees lIIay be any sub-co•• ittees that are deemed necessary by the Executive Committee. ARTI CLE I V
