2. Composition: Sterets Normasol is a 0.9% w/v Sodium Chloride pH Eur. It has been sterilised by autoclaving.

3. Precautions For Transport, Storage and Handling: Transport and storage:

No special precautions are required for the safety purposes. To maintain the product’s efficacy over its shelf life, the pharmaceutical storage precautions advised are: Store protected from heat and away from direct sunlight.

Handling:

No special precautions are required.

4. First Aid Measures If Spilled: General spillages may be cleaned up by swabbing. The solution is intended for clinical use on skin (intact or broken), and so no special precautions are necessary other than good nursing practice for the handling of solutions or dressings which are thought to have been in contact with biological tissues or fluids.

5. Irritancy: Within the context of HSE and COSHH legislation, none of the standard “risk phrases” apply to the sachet solution.

6. Toxicity: Within the context of HSE and COSHH legislation, none of the standard “risk phrases” apply to the sachet solution.

7. Carcinogenicity: Sterets Normaol and its constituents are not listed as carcinogenic substances in the COSHH Approved Codes of Practice or Schedules. No evidence for carcinogenicity of sodium chloride has been noted in standard reference texts.

8. Corrosive Properties: Within the context of HSE and COSHH legislation, Sterets Normasol is not a corrosive substance. Saline solutions in prolonged contact with some metals may cause surface pitting or discoloration.

9. Safety Phrases: COSHH “risk phrases” and COSHH “safety phrases” are not relevant, however attention is drawn to the Medicines Act labelling on the product and pharmaceutical precautions listed on the Summary of Product Characteristics.
