3 Things You Need To Know About Oxford’s Newest Restaurant: Saint Leo It’s not every day in a college town that you finally get to eat pizza that doesn’t come from a box in the freezer section at Kroger or from the backseat of a complete stranger’s car. So when it does happen, the whole town and university starts buzzing. In June of 2016, California native and chef, Emily Blunt opened up her dream restaurant. And guess what, there is a woodfire oven offers a newer, fresher taste for local pizza lovers. Blount’s dream began when she saw that Oxford did not have the types of restaurants to make the kind of pizza she liked. So naturally, she opened her own. Now, let’s get to the important part: THE FOOD. After several visits to this comfortable yet sophisticated restaurant, I have put together a list of everything you need to know, if and WHEN you decide to go. Lets dig in, shall we?

When in doubt, get an appetizer.

No seriously, do it. At Saint Leo, they have antipasti, which is a fancy word in Italian for an appetizer typically consisting of olives, anchovies, cheeses, and meats. The antipasti plates are the perfect size, they won’t fill you up or leave you hungry for more of their delicious, fresh baked bread. Do me a favor and order the Butternut Squash Bruschetta. You’ll thank me later.

- If you can’t pronounce an item on menu or don’t know what it is, ask! The staff at Saint Leo are trained and have great knowledge of the menu, the food, and sometimes even where it came from. Don’t be scared of looking foolish if you can’t pronounce a word or have never seen the word before in your entire life. After all, it’s a high-end Italian restaurant in the middle of Mississippi. They knew what was coming.

Work hard, brunch harder.

On Saturday and Sunday mornings, the staff at Saint Leo puts on the best brunch in town that has a little bit for everyone. From a breakfast pizza and waffles, they have it. Also, order one of their “Wake Up Calls”. This brunch is worth waking up for, I promise.

Want to know what is also great about everything I have told you? It’s also reasonably priced. Thank you Saint Leo for remembering those on a college student budget and those who love great food. If you ever get the chance to try this new restaurant, you won’t regret it. Check out their website at: www.eatsaintleo.com to see their menus, hours or days of operation, and upcoming events.
