Sales/Telesales Apprentice What’s it like?
What will I earn?
As a Sales or Telesales Apprentice you’ll be assisting and working alongside professionals, while training as an Apprentice.
As a Sales / Telesales Apprentice you can expect to be paid the Apprenticeship Minimum Wage, however most employers will offer commission or pay more.
The Sales and Telesales industry is fast paced, lively and exciting and many people working in the industry are young. To be an apprentice in this area you need to have excellent communication, sales and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work well on your own but also as part of a team. As an apprentice you will need to be a fast learner, quickly picking up knowledge of the products you are selling an how to influence customers so you meet your targets.
When qualified the salary can vary, you can expect to be paid between £15,000 and £20,000 a year and with experience this can rise to £35,000 a year.*
As an Apprentice, you may work as a Lead Generator. Working in Sales / Telesales you will spend most of your time dealing with incoming calls and making calls to current and new customers. Most sales roles also involve adding information about customers on a company database in an office environment.

What qualifications will I get?
Where will I train? The majority of your Apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace supported by your assessor. Dependent on your employer, you may attend some workshops at our centres.
When working as a Sales / Telesales Apprentice there are a number of different progression routes you can take once you are qualified. With experience, you could progress within a company to take on a larger sales territory or more important accounts. Extra duties you could take on are mentoring new staff, training, team leading and quality control. You can also complete Management Apprenticeships and qualification or progress on to Higher Education, where you could develop your skills and work as a Team Leader, Supervisor or progress to being a Manager within your company.
