Location El Paso, Texas Client City of El Paso, Texas SWA Scope Landscape Architecture Urban Design Public Outreach and Participation Project Area 66,400 sq. ft. (1.5 acres)
The design for historic San Jacinto Plaza is the result of ongoing outreach efforts with the city and residents of El Paso. A strong sense of history and tradition is embedded within the plaza, and the design is focused on interpreting the past through a contemporary lens; with the intent to reestablish the 100-year-old plaza as a central gathering space at the heart of downtown. At the core, the design is centered around flexibility such that the plaza becomes a place for everyday use, but is able to accommodate seasonal or spontaneous events.
