San Luis Rey Road Race Saturday, April 16, 2016 In memory of Mark Reynolds

2016 SCNCA Elite Road Race Championships Part of the SCNCA SoCal Riders Cup Series ENTRIES: Online pre-registration opens _Wednesday, March 9_ at usacycling.org/register/2016-1087 and must be completed by _April 14_ 10:59 pm PST. There will be a $10 late fee for on-site registration. Riders under 18 must have a parent/legal guardian “wet” signature on the release form (no electronic signatures). All riders must fill out a SD county release on the day of the event. Additional races are $15. Entry fee includes $3.75 insurance fee and $0.50 SCNCA surcharges. All riders must present a valid USA Cycling license at registration. Unlicensed riders may enter Men Cat 5, Master Men 35+ 4/5, Master Men 55+, Master Men 65+, and Women Cat 4 categories by purchasing a $10 one-day USA Cycling license online or at registration. Current USA Cycling National Road Race champions may race free by pre-registering – contact e-mail below for details. RACE DAY REGISTRATION: Registration at Sullivan Middle School opens 1 hour before each race & closes 15 minutes before start. A category with less than 8 riders at the close of registration may be combined with another field and scored separately. RULES: Race will take place rain or shine. All USA Cycling rules apply. The course is open to traffic. Centerline rule will be enforced! Working with anyone in another race category is not allowed. Feeding will be allowed only in the designated feed zone near the start/finish. Wheel support will be provided for Pro/1/2 Men and Women 1/2/3 fields. Other fields will receive wheel support if staffing allows. Wheels in, wheels out. No unauthorized follow vehicles allowed. Must be present to accept awards/prizes. Elite Women Pro/1-3** * Master Men 55+/65+ scored together for SoCalCup points. Separate prize lists. † Women 3, 4, Jr Women 15-18 race together - Separate prize lists for Women 3, Women 4, and medals for Juniors. ** Elite Men 1-3 and Elite Women 1-3 are racing for SCNCA Road Race State Championships. Masters Men 35+, 45+, 55+, Elite Men Pro/1/2, Cat 3 Men and Elite Women 1-3 are a part of the SoCal Cup series.

COURSE: A moderately hilly 14.7-mile circuit on well-paved roads. Descend from the start down West Lilac, turn left onto Camino del Rey. Continue to the turn-around at the I-15 underpass. Return to W. Lilac and turn right. From there it’s ~3.1 miles back to Sullivan Middle School. The finish is in front of the school just before the second turn-around. The final 2.2 miles climbs ~400 feet. Total climbing per lap is approximately 530 feet. See course and profile at www.celopacific.org. DIRECTIONS: From I-15: Exit at Old Hwy 395 (between Temecula & Escondido) and travel 1 mile north to W. Lilac. Turn left down the hill to Sullivan Middle School. From I-5: Exit at Hwy 76 in Oceanside and travel 15 miles east to Old Hwy 395. Turn right (South) 2 miles & turn right on W. Lilac to Sullivan Middle School.
