Sartell Youth Hockey Association Association Meeting Monday, February 12th 2007 Sartell Middle School, Room #675 Meeting Minutes Call to Order: 8:01 pm Present: Bill Worzala, John Lindmeier, Todd Minkel, Bryan Bidinger, Pam Brookins, Stacey Jurek, Phil Bachman, Paul Orndorff, Jon Pinkerton, Doug Ferns, Chris Zwiener. Additions to Agenda: None Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve January 2007 Meeting Minutes, Bill Worzala. Second by Phil Bachman. Motion passes. Treasurer’s Report: Mike Mundis – NR Gambling Report: Bryan Bidinger – $50,754 deposited for January 2007, $10,274 in expenses. Net profit for January after expenses and taxes is $34,291. The calendar raffle contributed $38,780 towards this month’s deposit after prizes paid out. Motion to approve January by Todd Minkel. Second by Bill Worzala. Motion passes. Pre-Approval expenses for March 2007 of $10,000. Motion to accept by Todd Minkel, second by Dave Erickson. Motion passes. Proposal was made to pay $20,212 to the Sartell Youth Recreation Center to get ice bills paid off. Motion to accept by Bill Worzala. Second by Dave Erickson. Motion carries. District 5 Report: Dave Erickson – 1) Sartell looking to host the 2007-08 Bantam B West Regional. Waiting for Arena board to approve. D5 will be hosting the PeeWee A/B/C District Playoffs and Bantam A/B/C Regional’s this year. 2) We incurred $225 in D5 fines this year which resulted from late score sheets, missing game numbers, game changes and not mailing in originals. Need to come up with a better system so this doesn’t happen in the future. Must be paid off otherwise SYHA teams cannot play in playoffs. 3) District 5 results for Girls U12B, PeeWee & Bantams are posted under the D5 site. You can find the D5 playoff schedule for PWA, PWB & PWC there as well. The Regional schedules for Girls U12B, Bantam B & Bantam A can be found on the Minnesota Hockey website. 4) Sartell is hosting a D5 playoff game on 2/20 for PeeWee A. There may be a possible High School playoff game conflict which may result in moving the D5 district game to another date. 5) Still looking for a SYHA D5 representative because Dave Erickson’s term expires in April. Two meetings left this year in March & April down in Cokato. Will reconvene next fall and their meetings are usually on the 1st Wednesday of each month.
Level Coordinator’s Report: IP: Alicia Dammen – IPC has a Mite Jamboree Willmar. They will be playing on an indoor & outdoor rink. Finding out some games with certain associations aren’t equally matched. Problem is that Minnesota Hockey hasn’t adopted IP across the board for all associations and we must follow D5 guidelines. Squirts: Sheri Erickson – SQB have taken (2) 3rd place finishes and a 2nd place in their tournaments. SQA has a 2nd & 3rd place finish for tournaments. SQC – White has (2) 3rd place finishes and SQC – Blue has (2) Consolation finishes. Girls: Phil Bachman – Girls U8 had their first game with St. Cloud at Bernick’s arena. Girls U12B took 1st place at the New Ulm tournament and are District champs. PeeWee: Mary Kay Lindmeier – PWA is a #6 seed in their D5 playoffs. Played up at a Cloquet tournament on February 2-4. PWB is third in their playoff seeding. Traveled up to a Bemidji tournament during January 26-28. PWC took first place in their District. They played at a STMA tournament on February 9-11. Bantam: Paul Orndorf – Bantam B are District champs with a record of 16-1-3 and will be heading to Regional’s on March 2-4. Bantam A took 5th out of 16 teams at the CIC tournament in St. Cloud. No Sartell team has won a game there until now. They are also District champs and will be also playing in Regional’s. They took 2nd place at an Armstrong tournament on February 1-4. Sponsorship: Doug Ferns - Needs to know which corporate sponsors have paid or not. Equipment: Chris Zwiener – Will be sending out an e-mail shortly about collecting the equipment from all teams. Suggestion was made to move equipment over above the JV looker room once completed and put the weight equipment where the hockey equipment is located today. Old Business: Grade Appropriate Move-Up Policy – Decided to create a committee and propose it to the D5 board. This policy would apply to Mites moving up to Squirts only. Our Top 5 policy would apply for Squirts and up.
New Business: Home Tournaments – Lost the eighth team for our Bantam C tournament on February 17-18. May have to run the tournament with only 7 teams. Our second Squirt C tournament is coming up on March 2-4 and Stacey Jurek volunteered to be the coordinator. Will be needing lots of volunteers to help out with this tournament. Board Terms – Three terms will expiring this year for board members. The three-year terms for Dave Erickson & Mike Mundis will expire in April 2007.
