SATURDAY, APRIL 26, 2014 9am-10:30am – Community Cleanup Across Frisco 11am-12pm – Earth Day Celebration at IKEA (7171 IKEA Dr) IKEA will provide a FREE lunch to all cleanup volunteers beginning at 11am. Bounce houses, face painting and dog adoptions will be part of the fun! Mayor Maso will lead the Earth Day Raffle beginning at 11:30am. All present volunteers will have a chance to win – don’t miss it! More info at www.FriscoTexas.gov/Recycle. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Wait a minute... so picking up litter can be FUN? You'd be surprised! Trust us! Can I pre-register to clean with my school? Absolutely; Frisco ISD students may register with their school's Green Team Coordinator (Recycling Coordinator). How do I know if my school is participating? Ask your Green Team Coordinator. If your school is not participating as a group, your family can still participate by registering at IKEA before 9am on April 26! Can I pre-register to clean with my scout group or other organization? Yes; many such groups have “adopted” a street or park in Frisco, and they will clean those areas during Clean It and Green It. All groups are strongly encouraged to pre-register. How do I pre-register? Fill out the waiver form on the back of this page, and return to your school’s Green Team Coordinator before April 18. Families can share a waiver, and make sure to mark t-shirt sizes! NOTE: if you are registering separately from your school (ex: as part of a scout group or an Adopt-A-Street group, send your group’s waivers, all together, directly to [email protected]). When is the deadline to pre-register? The deadline to have all forms turned in is April 18 at your school. This will give us enough time to put together a bag of cleanup supplies and t-shirts for all of your school’s volunteers! Can I still sign up at the last minute? Yes! If your school is participating in the cleanup, your Green Team Coordinator will have extra waivers on hand the morning of. You can pick up your free t-shirt at IKEA after the cleanup (at 11am). T-shirts available while supplies last. What do I do with the litter I collect? Bring all litter bags back to IKEA after the cleanup. There will be a special dumpster there in the Family Parking Area for this purpose. So we found this big old couch... ?! Report large litter items found to [email protected]. We'll have Super Rufus fly out and collect all the heavy stuff. Close Encounters of the Unusual Kind... Groups will have an opportunity to announce their "most unusual item collected" during the celebration at IKEA. Unusual items discovered during last year's cleanup included a TV, a refrigerator, and even a pair of underpants. Go figure! We can’t wait to hear about what YOU encounter!
