Registration & S a fe S a n c t u a r y
This is a wonderful opportunity to share the love of Christ with our community. There are projects for all ages and skill levels. Come be a part of making an impact in the Tomball and surrounding communities.
Registration begins on Sunday, January 8th. All adult participants must be Safe Sanctuary Certified. All Safe Sanctuary information and forms are located on the website and can be found by clicking on the Faith in Action Logo. (For those participants from The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, we are honoring the completion of the “Safe Guarding” program at your church.) All forms must be completed and submitted prior to Sunday, January 29th. At TUMC they may be submitted to the church office, placed in the box marked Faith In Action in the gathering area, or given to Rebecca Jones, Dale Reid, or Carol Upchurch. At Rosehill UMC please return to the church office or Kon Chen. At Church of the Good Shepherd please return to the church office.

Saturday, February 25, 2017 Sunday, February 26, 2017 Faith In Action is coming. During this event we go out into the community to help others with small repairs to their homes which they cannot make for themselves. We also have several projects on site for those who prefer to stay indoors. There will be a dinner and a time of worship on Friday, February 24, 2017. Registration begins Sunday, January 8, 2017. *Nursery Care available for children 5 & under with a reservation
Faith in Action is a community service project being held in conjunction with Tomball United Methodist Church, Rosehill United Methodist Church, and The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Pro j e ct s Off Site Work Projects Construction Coordinators: Henry Reid & John Evans All Day Saturday & Sunday All ages welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent. Various locations: scraping & painting, cleaning out gutters, power washing, tree trimming, general handyman repair work, cleaning up yards, carpentry/framing, roofing, sheetrock demolition and replacing, flooring/laying tile, plumbing, constructing wheelchair ramps, etc.
Kitchen Crew Team Leader: Russell Hall Friday – Noon – 8:00 PM: Prepare, serve, and clean up for worship/dinner & prepare breakfast and lunch for Saturday. Saturday - 6:00 AM - Noon: Preparation, set up, serve and clean up breakfast and lunch. Sunday – 6:00 – 10:00 AM: Preparation, set up, serve, and clean up breakfast and lunch. All ages welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Prayer Blankets Team Leader: Cindy Whitehead Saturday & Sunday beginning at 9:00 AM Knitting, crocheting, sewing, & cutting and knotting of fleece prayer blankets. Ages: 12 and older.
Sewing teddy bears for police distribution Team Leader: Cindy Whitehead Saturday & Sunday beginning at 9:00 AM Creating, sewing and stuffing teddy bears to give to police department to share with children whom they meet in their line of work. All ages are welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Sewing hygiene pouches for Days for Girls International Team Leader: Marcia Love Sewing on Saturday all day Packing hygiene kits on Sunday AM only. All ages are welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries Team Leader: Brenda Carrington Sunday all day Help TEAM with needed tasks in their resale shop & food pantry. All ages are welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Homebound Meal Delivery Team Leader: Jane Scott Saturday & Sunday Bring a side dish or dessert. We will take lunch, by appointment, to our homebound members. Appointments will be at 11:30 am and 1:00 pm each day. Teams of two people needed for each delivery. Ages: Driving teens and adults.
Cookies and Cards for First Responders Team Leader: Kim Reid Saturday all day. Plan to bake 3 dozen sugar cookies for each site on Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon we will decorate and package for delivery. Saturday afternoon we will make cards for each package. All ages are welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Tomball Community Garden Team leader: Stephanie Baker Sunday PM only : Noon – 4:00 PM Planting, weeding, fertilizing garden. All ages are welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Military Packages Team Leaders: Ed & Lonna Guyer Sunday 9:00 AM – noon. Assemble care packages for Operation Gratitude. All ages are welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Manna Bags Team Leader: Kit Pfeiffer Putting together eating utensil packets and putting together toiletry bags for use in manna bags. The manna bags are given to members to give away to homeless individuals in the community we encounter. Sunday 9:00 AM – noon. All ages are welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
