Fabric, Fiber & FUN! As many of you know, I have quite a long list of things to do (it’s one of my hobbies). One item has been on the list for about a year...just waiting for the right timing. Well, good things come to those who wait. I have purchased the yarn shop across the street from the quilt shop. According to the Winters Express, I’m creating a “craft mecca.” Formerly “Spin A Yarn”, the shop is now part of Cloth Carousel. It’ll have more than yarn, though. It’s our hand-stitch side of the street. I’ve already moved over all hand embroidery -related items. I’ve wanted to expand our offering of Valdani floss and now will have the room to make it happen. For the future, there is room to bring in wool for applique, and many have requested needlepoint and cross-stitch projects. Just like the quilt shop, there will be classes of all types. If there’s a class you’re interested in, please let us know. I’ve already had several teachers approach me interested in teaching...I’m very excited to see where it all goes. Because of the new addition a few things will change. I’m working on some minor modifications to the shop logo and those should be done by next month’s newsletter. The class listings for both locations will be listed together in the newsletter with indicators of the type of class (turn the page to see what I’m talking about). The hand-stitch classes will be at 14 Main Street while the machine sewing classes will remain at 9 Main Street. (There are actually two areas that can be used for classes at 14 Main...come over and check it out when you get a chance.) I have moved my office to 14 Main and cleaned up 9 Main’s back room so Scott has more room to check in inventory. Take a peak...it looks pretty spiffy. (Actually Paul moved and cleaned...I just showed up and said “That looks great!”). I should probably get a pedometer so I can measure all the steps I’m now getting in my day...perhaps I’ll learn to be more efficient with my trips back and forth, but for now a little exercise is a good thing. Things that will make it easier for you if you also do hand stitching projects: Same point-of-sale system—You’ll accumulate points on your purchases at both locations, and your reward coupons can be used at either shop. On-line class signups for the new location will work the same as they do now. Gift certificates are good on both sides of the street. For the knitters and crocheters, this new venture is really for you! Look for new yarn arriving the second week of June. There will also be more needle and hook options soon. And though I don’t knit (yet), I do crochet...my market bag is at Every Month 14 Main to prove it (because I knew you were going to ask).
