We hear a lot about Islam or Muslims in our nightly news. Too often it is bad news about the latest terrorist attack by ISIS or another violent extremist group. If we hear enough of these reports, we can grow to believe that all Muslims hate us and want to destroy our way of living. We can experience fear and anger in our hearts toward all Muslims. But. . .as Christians. . .how are we to respond to Muslims? How can we develop God’s heart for them and a Christ-like response to them? At our “Answering Islam” event, we hope to shed light on these timely and critically important questions. Next to Christianity, Islam is the second largest religion in the world. Muslims believe in one God and even affirm the historicity of the person of Jesus and yet, their understanding of God and his relationship with us is very different from that of Christians. We need to know more about Islam, not only to quell our fears, but to learn ways to reach Muslims for Christ. We pray this event will provide you with the background, biblical perspective, and ministry tools useful to reach Muslims for Christ. Come with an open mind. Come with a heart prepared to learn and be stretched. But by all means. . .come!

Mark, and his wife Mary, have been pastoring for over 25 years until 2006 when they attended a conference on reaching out to Muslims which “rocked their world.” Sensing a new call, they pursued Muslim outreach full-time. For 8 years they have engaged with Muslims from campuses to barber shops to mosques to numerous trips to the Middle East. They also speak in churches everywhere to help Christians gain God’s heart for Muslims and reach out to them relationally with confidence and compassion. As they say, “We are not experts in anything but. . .we love Muslims. We want to help Christians ‘bridge the gap’ between them and their Muslim neighbors.”

His thesis, ‘The Cross of Christ: Islamic Perspectives’, awarded him a Ph.D. He has taught about Islam at churches in the U.S., Scotland and South Africa and has presented his work at academic conferences in the U.K, Italy, Morocco, South Africa, Brazil and the U.S. His book reviews appear in the U.S based Muslim World Journal, while his articles appear in the Vatican’s Islamochristiana and in a book published in Jordan.
