Practicing the Presence of God: Advent Centering Prayer Retreat
Thank you to all those who came to help with our fall clean-‐up! Many hands make light(er) work, and the church grounds look quite beautiful due to your efforts. Thank you for your willingness to devote your precious free time to our parish community!
Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford will sponsor an advent centering prayer retreat led by Gail Fitzpatrick-‐Hopler from Dec. 3 to 5. How can we experience God in the midst of daily life with all its activity, and responsibility? This retreat for men and women will explore the practice of Centering Prayer as a contemplative practice of silence. Although silence in community will be observed much of each day, there will be opportunities for questions and discussion. Beginners are welcome. The retreat offering is $250.00. Information is available at 860-‐521-‐0440 or www.holyfamilyretreat.org.
CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE
Beginning November 20th, a Christmas Giving Tree will be located inside the entrance of the church with ornaments listing practical gifts that are needed by St. Michael’s Church in Hartford. Please take an ornament and bring your unwrapped present to the back of the church before Mass on December 11th or 12th. Please attach the tree ornament to your gift. Presents must be received no later than 1:00 p.m. on December 12th for timely delivery. Please contact the Wenner family (
[email protected]) or the Lang family (
[email protected]) with any questions. Thank you for supporting this program. CHRISTMAS COOKIE FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS AND BAKERS ARE NEEDED The Annual Christmas Cookie Festival is Saturday, December 11th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The sweet profits generated by the Cookie Festival will be donated to the teen mission project. What better way to teach our kids the value of community service than by example? We are in need of at least 100 bakers to make this event a success. Bake your favorite cookies, bars, candies, or nuts, or donate your time to assist with the event set-up or cleanup. We will be especially THANKFUL for all donations, great and small. Sign-up sheets for bakers and volunteers are in the narthex and church hall. For more information, call Francie Medina 659-4138.
