Benedictine opened the season on Tuesday night at Augustana, who was playing a third game. Benedictine did not lead in the game. Augustana pulled away in the second half with 44 points. Madisyn Fischer led Benedictine with 11 points off the bench. Venita Parsons scored nine points. Augustana held a 50-44 advantage on the glass. Benedictine shot 31.9 percent from the field but reached the free throw line just four times. PMS 123 C

MARIAN MINUTE

Picked to place 11th in the preseason poll, Marian has opened the season with a 2-2 record. After losing backto-back games in St. Louis last weekend, the Sabres bounced back with a 54-40 win over Mt. Mary on Tuesday. Senior Brandi Bender leads the team in scoring at 16 points per game, the lone player in double digits.

PRESEASON POLL

Coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history, Benedictine was picked to finish third in the NACC preseason poll. The Eagles picked up three first place votes. Concordia Wisconsin earned the role of preseason favorite with Wisconsin Lutheran sitting second. Benedictine returns all-conference performers Venita Parsons and D’Asia Williams from a 19-7 team.

UP NEXT

Benedictine returns home on Monday night for a non-conference contest against Lake Forest at 7:00 p.m. Counting today, three-of-four will be played at home.
