November 19 WELCOME SONG OF PREPARATION

For All the Saints

For all the saints, who from their labors rest, who thee by faith before the world confessed, thy name, O Jesus, be forever blessed. Alleluia, Allelu... Thou wast their rock, their fortress and their might; thou, Lord, their captain in the well fought fight; thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light. Alleluia, Allelu...

At Church of the First Born - 3418 St. Elmo Ave

O may thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold, fight as the saints who nobly fought of old, and win with them the victor’s crown of gold. Alleluia, Allelu... The golden evening brightens in the west; soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest; sweet is the calm of paradise the blest. Alleluia, Allelu... But lo! There breaks a yet more glorious day; the saints triumphant rise in bright array; the King of glory passes on his way, Alleluia, Allelu... From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast, through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia, Alleluia! CALL TO WORSHIP

SONGS OF PRAISE

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O, my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, now to his temple draw near; join me in glad adoration. Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth; shelters thee under his wings, yea, so gently sustaineth! Hast thou not seen how thy desires e’er have been granted in what he ordaineth? Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee; surely his goodness and mercy here daily attend thee. Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, if, with his love, he befriend thee. Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore him! All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before him. Let the amen sound from his people again; gladly fore’er we adore him. Our Great God

Eternal God, unchanging, mysterious and unknown, your boundless love unfailing, in grace and mercy shown. Bright seraphim in endless flight around your glorious throne, they raise their voices day and night in praise to you alone.

Jesus Shall Reign

Jesus shall reign where'er the sun does his successive journeys run; his kingdom stretch from shore to shore, till moons shall wax and wane no more. People and realms of every tongue dwell on his love with sweetest song; and infant voices shall proclaim their early blessings on his name. Blessings abound where'er he reigns; the pris’ner leaps to lose his chains, the weary find eternal rest, and all the sons of want are blest. Let every creature rise and bring peculiar honors to our King; angels descend with songs again, and earth repeat the loud amen! BENEDICTION

Hallelujah, glory be to our great God! Hallelujah, glory be to our great God! Lord we are weak and frail, helpless in the storm; surround us with your angels, hold us in your arms. Our cold and ruthless enemy, his pleasure is our harm; rise up, oh Lord, and he will flee before our sovereign God. Let every creature in the sea and every flying bird, let every mountain, every field and valley of the earth; let all the moons and all the stars in all the universe sing praises to the living God who rules them by his Word. CONFESSION OF SIN

Leader: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sins to God. Silent Confession of Sins ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: We have an advocate with the Father who loves us, Jesus Christ, the Righteous. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins. All: In him, we are forgiven. SONG OF ASSURANCE

I’ll Not Be Shaken

For God alone, I wait in silence; my soul is still before the Lord. He is my rock and my salvation, my fortress strong; I trust in him. I’ll not be shaken! I’ll not be shaken, for all my hope is in his love. From God alone comes my salvation; I wait and trust his steadfast love! Put not your hope in gain of riches; seek not your rest in empty wealth. The rich are weak; the poor are mighty, who turn to God alone for help. Pour out your heart to God our refuge and trust in him to hear you cry. No other hope will never fail you; no other love will not run dry. WELCOME ONE ANOTHER

OLD TESTAMENT LESSON

Psalm 2

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against Yahweh and against his Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” 1

NEW TESTAMENT LESSON

Ephesians 1:15-23

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 15

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know him better. 17

The One enthroned in heaven laughs; Yahweh scoffs at them. 5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” 7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. 8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” 4

Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. 10

I pray that eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. 18

That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

11

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. 22

Leader: The people of God shall not live by bread alone, All: but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
