MEASUREMENTS Hat: One size to fit average woman's head. Scarf: Approx 8 x 72" [20.5 x 183 cm]. GAUGE 9 sts and 12 rows = 4" [10 cm] with 2 strands of yarn tog in stocking st. INSTRUCTIONS Note: Hat and Scarf are knit holding 2 strands of yarn tog throughout.

Patons® Classic Wool Roving™ (3.5 oz/100 g; 120 yds/109 m) Yellow (77615) 6 balls Note: Hat takes 2 balls. Size U.S. 15 (10 mm) knitting needles. Set of four size U.S. 15 (10 mm) double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Stitch marker. SCARF With 2 strands of yarn, cast on 17 sts. 1st and alt rows: (WS). K2. *P1. K2. Rep from * to end of row. 2nd and 4th rows: P2. *K1. P2. Rep from * to end of row. 6th row: P2. *Drop next st off of left needle and allow st to unravel 4 rows down. Knit into center of st 5th st down and also under 4 loose strands, drawing up the st and catching the strands behind it. P2. Rep from * to end of row. These 6 rows form pat. Cont in pat until work from beg measures approx 72" [183 cm], ending on a 6th row of pat. Cast off in pat.

Drop next st off of left needle and allow st to unravel 4 rows down. Knit into center of st 5th st down and also under 4 loose strands, drawing up the st and catching the strands behind it. Rep from * around. Rep last 6 rnds 3 times more. Shape top: 1st rnd: *K2. K2tog. Rep from * around. 36 sts. 2nd rnd: Knit. 3rd rnd: *K1. K2tog. Rep from * around. 24 sts. 4th rnd: Knit. 5th rnd: *K2tog. Rep from * around. 12 sts rem. Break yarn, leaving a long end and draw tightly through rem sts. Fasten securely. Pompom (optional) Wind yarn around 4 fingers approx 100 times. Tie tightly in the middle and leave a long end for attaching to Hat. Cut loops at both ends and trim to smooth round shape. Sew securely to top of Hat.
HAT With 2 strands of yarn and set of doublepointed needles, cast on 36 sts. Divide sts evenly between 3 needles. Join in rnd, placing marker on first st.
