ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary (PDE) is a nonprofit organization established in 1996 to take a leadership role in protecting and enhancing the Delaware Estuary, where fresh water from the Delaware River mixes with salt water from the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of 28 congressionally designated National Estuary Programs throughout the coastal United States working to improve the environmental health of the nation's estuaries. Its staff works with partners in three states to increase awareness, understanding, and scientific knowledge about the Delaware Estuary, the region's most important cultural, economic, and recreational resource. Visit us on the web: www.delawareestuary.org GENERAL FUNCTIONS Under the direction of the Senior Coordinator, Schuylkill Action Network (SAN), the SAN Fellow will provide office, meeting, and project support for a variety of activities related to the day-to-day management of the Schuylkill Action Network. Members of the SAN share information, expertise, and technology to help each other achieve a shared vision of clean water and a healthy environmental for the Schuylkill River and its tributaries. The fellow will provide support to SAN work group committees, assist with and attend SAN events and activities, work with the SAN Coordinator and partners to develop and implement collaborative projects, and promote SAN communications via www.SchuylkillWaters.org and other means. This paid fellowship will engage a recent graduate or current graduate student who is able to invest 40 hours per week for one year, in return for which s/he will gain essential job experience and exposure to future opportunities. Transportation and the ability to travel extensively within the Schuylkill River Watershed are required. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Good organizational and coordination skills; demonstrated ability to work with diverse public and private constituencies a plus. Ability to work effectively in coordination with other staff and volunteers; experience organizing meetings/conferences a plus. Strong attention to detail; project management skills/experience a plus. Demonstrated ability in working with a broad spectrum of constituencies, including work, volunteer, and/or academic experience in watershed management. Computer knowledge particularly in Microsoft Suite; web design and social media skills/experience a plus. 1-3 years experience working or volunteering in a related job; experience in watershed management a plus.
Bachelor or higher degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, education or a related field.
JOB FUNCTIONS Provide Support for SAN Meetings/Events
Provide support to the SAN Coordinator and chairpersons to manage and facilitate planning and workgroup committee meetings. Assist the SAN Coordinator and key PDE staff and partners as needed to plan, organize, and coordinate SAN events including the SAN annual workshop, the annual scholastic drinking water award program, and 1-2 tours of completed work group projects. Work with the SAN Coordinator to expand and enhance the Schuylkill Scrub, an annual watershed-wide cleanup event that runs each spring between March and May. Assist with recruiting SAN cleanup partners, integrating the program more closely with the Great PA Cleanup, and promoting the event through SAN outreach venues.
Promote SAN Communications
Work with the SAN Coordinator to make weekly updates to the www.SchuylkillWaters.org website and SAN social media sites with weekly news story additions, project success stories, and watershed resources. Assist with the development and production of SAN print and electronic communications, including the CONNECTIONS newsletter and annual progress report. Maintain an updated SAN membership list in the PDE Salesforce database and online mass email messaging platform. Promote coordination of activity/communication across workgroups by periodically attending workgroup meetings Generally represent and promote SAN to and within the practitioner community and (where needed) to the broader community.

Work with Partnership staff team on organizational wide initiatives and other miscellaneous projects and events as needed. Other duties as assigned
EFFECT ON END RESULTS As a result of the effective work of the Schuylkill Action Network Fellow, the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary will continue to grow, develop, and support collaborative programs and projects for water quality improvement in the Schuylkill River Watershed.
Job Vacancy: SAN Fellow The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, a regional environmental nonprofit organization and one of 28 National Estuary Programs, seeks candidates for a one-year full-time Fellowship position to aid in the day-to-day management of the Schuylkill Action Network (SAN). The SAN Fellow will work closely with the SAN Coordinator to implement educational and watershed management programs in the Schuylkill River Watershed, the largest tributary to the Delaware Estuary. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are essential, including demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and with diverse partners; experience in watershed management is strongly desired.
