Success in Santiago Scotland’s Senior Women returned from their World Cup Qualifier in Chile last week, and after a fantastic set of performances over the course of their gruelling four match schedule, the ladies can be rightly proud of their Silver Medal achievement. Gordon Shepherd, Head Coach, beamed, “I am absolutely sure it has put Scotland back on the map after putting in such a strong performance against Australia. These results will have made an impact in the hockey world.” Scotland also picked up end of tournament awards, earning a collective Fair Play trophy, and Abigail Walker was named as Best Goalkeeper. The team will now take a well earned breather before they play a series of friendly matches. Those matches will act as part of the preparations for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October, where Scotland will hope to continue their good form.

Scottish Hockey 2010 Annual Awards The winners of the Scottish Hockey Annual Awards will be announced and presented with their accolades during the Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday 19 June. The event will take place at the Apex International Hotel in Edinburgh, and we will be delighted to welcome you to a celebration of Scottish hockey. The Scottish Hockey Annual Awards are a real highlight in the hockey calendar, when we recognise and honour a number of achievements by players, teams, coaches, officials and volunteers throughout the course of the 2009/10 season. The prelude to the Annual Awards Dinner will be a drinks reception at 6.30pm, before the night’s proceedings begin with a three course dinner and awards ceremony, which will be presented by BBC Sports Weekly’s Katie Still. We will conclude the ceremony by raffling off some great prizes before handing over to Norloch, the performing live band. They will be keen to encourage people out of their seats and onto the dance floor. Individual and club bookings are welcome. Tables are filling up fast so book your tickets today before the 4th June deadline. Tickets are £35 per person, or £31.50 per person when booking a table of 10.
