Learn to sew your own clothes! Many people are intimidated by the idea of sewing clothing, but it’s not as scary as it seems! This beginner-friendly, entry-level apparel sewing class is going to take your wardrobe to a whole new level! This pattern is perfect for beginners and a huge favorite for apparel sewers. Anyone can sew a Scout Tee, and anyone can wear one! It’s a basic tee fitted in the shoulders and sleeves but relaxed through the rest of the body. With no buttons or zippers or complicated fitting, this tee is really simple to sew! You’ll be so proud when you wear your new tee, especially when you see the look on people’s faces when you tell them you made it yourself!
We will begin class by learning the following: how to assemble a paper pattern; how to measure ourselves and others to select the right pattern size and determine fabric requirements; learn tips and tricks to tracing the pattern pieces; discussing what type of fabric prints are most attractive to our different body shapes and how to care for handmade clothing. AND then we will go SHOPPING!!! The Quilter's Lodge has an amazing selection of quilting cottons to choose from to make your first scout tee!
Next, we will cut and sew together! Vienna will show you how to complete a neat bias neckline and set in sleeves, which are great professional garment sewing techniques to learn. She will also show you some fun ways in which she has customized the Scout Tee for sleeve, necklines, and dress variations with this pattern.
