Quick Hits Davenport won its sixth consecutive WHAC Regular Season title and third straight WHAC Tournament title in 2011-12 The Cougars enter as the champions of the Association of Independent Institutions as they defeated Valley City State in the championship game This is the 8th straight appearance for Davenport at the national tournament and first overall for Cal State San Marcos Davenport is ranked No. 4 in the latest NAIA DII Top 25 poll while San Marcos is receiving votes Davenport is on a 6-game winning streak while CSM has won 3 straight

DAVENPORT VS. CS SAN MARCOS PREVIEW It’s the opening round of the NAIA DII national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa as Davenport is making its 8th overall and 8th consecutive appearance while Cal State San Marcos is in its first year at the tournament. Davenport and Cal State have never played before but they have three common opponents with CSUSM going 2-1 against Concordia (Ore.), Warner Pacific and Indiana Northwest and DU posting a 3-0 mark in those games. Davenport has an overall record of 8-7 in the national tournament and has advanced to the second round in each of the last four years including an Elite 8 appearance in 2007-08 and national runner-up finish last season. Cal State San Marcos does not have a conference as they are a new member to the NAIA and a school that has applied for NCAA DII status.
