Winston-Salem, NC, May 18, 2015 – Mr. Glenn O’Shea, of Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington, N.C., was honored with Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina’s 2015 Exemplary Partner Agency Volunteer Award at its annual Agency Conference held last week. O’Shea was nominated by Bett Hargrave and Sandy Reynolds, Co-Chairs of the Social Concerns Commission at Grace Episcopal. Mr. O’Shea and his wife, Libby, were already involved in Sunday Lunch, a program to provide for the needy, in April 2012 when they were introduced to the programs at Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC through a seminar at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. O’Shea and others from Grace Episcopal were inspired to attain their ServSafe® certification through Second Harvest Food Bank and begin offering a food pantry to those who were attending the Sunday Lunch program. “Glenn spent countless hours in the first year, working tirelessly to recruit and educate volunteers, to obtain needed storage space, to keep the members of the congregation informed and to garner support from other churches and organizations in the community,” says Reynolds. “His enthusiasm and his 1

cheerful, positive ‘can do’ attitude were the prime motivators in the growth and success of the program. Consequently, the pantry currently distributes food to between 80 and 100 hungry people every Sunday.” As the winner of the Exemplary Partner Agency Volunteer award, Mr. O’Shea received a Visa gift card and a $50 credit to Grace Episcopal Church’s food bank account.
