Presentation Descriptions “Functional Range Conditioning” In this session, Coach Haslinger will provide the audience with a systematic approach to combining: mobility, flexibility, & joint control. This presentation on FRC will effectively teach the audience how to optimize one’s active range of motion to improve multiple aspects of performance.
“Westside Conjugate: How to Properly Implement It in a Team / College Setting” In this session, Coach Maitland will present the principles of Westside Conjugate Programming. He will cover the basics & teach the audience how to build a faster, strong, & more resilient athlete by using Westside Conjugate.
“Culture & Mentality: Can You Coach It?” In this session, Coach Derrickson will define what “Mental Toughness” is & present the audience with ways to successfully incorporate Mental Toughness Training into their programs. While also building a championship culture among their team(s).
"The Posterior Chain: Training It & The Importance It Plays in Sport" In this session, Coach Conner will identify and discuss the musculature structure & training of the posterior chain and how it relates to sport.
"Monitoring on a Budget" In this session, Coach Dessart will present on various, cost-effective monitoring methods for your athlete/client. Simple “do’s” & “don’ts” along with practical monitoring applications will be covered.
"Save Your Spine" In this session, Dr. Rassel will take look at the functional anatomy and common pathologies of the spine, and how you can take action on a daily basis to protect your spine. Also, attendees will learn a progression of movements for disc health for clients/athletes of all ages.
"A Simple Method for Assessing Tri-Planar Core Stability” (Hands-On) In this session, Coach Rassel will be leading a hands-on demonstration of the four different movements that he has utilized department-wide over the past several years to assess core stability in all three planes of motion. More specifically, attendees will learn a simple and effective way to grade anti-extension stability, anti-lateral flexion stability, and anti-rotation stability for their athletes/clients.
"Addressing the X-Factor: Nutrition" In this session, Coach Krause will provide the audience with an approach on how to tackle an overcomplicated & confusing topic. Coach Krause will also introduce how your athlete/client can program their nutrition similarly to their workouts.
"Top Moc: Defining & Development of a Powerful Athlete" In this session, Coach Wallace will provide an overview & define how he determines a powerful athlete at FSC. Throughout the presentation Coach Wallace will cover how he programs for maximal power production & how he determines who the “Top Moc” is.
"Programming Made Simple: Dot Your I’s & Cross Your T’s" (Workshop) In this session, Coach Ayers will take the audience through a step-by-step approach to programming. It will include a fool-proof flowchart to make your programming simpler & more simplistic, when trying to tackle an often time, daunting task.
Speaker Bios Taylor Haslinger – Coach Taylor Haslinger is a recent graduate from Florida Gulf Coast University. During his time there he had the opportunity to intern with FGCU S&C along with the Boston Red Sox Organization. He recently left the University of Kentucky to join the Webber Strength Staff and is in charge of the Men's and Women's golf program. Taylor
is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.
Ryan Maitland – Coach Ryan Maitland is a recent graduate of Salisbury University. While at Salisbury he volunteered within their sports performance department and has also completed internships at The University of Delaware working with their football program gram and Elite Training Systems where he worked with professional hockey players and other elite athletes. Ryan possesses a bachelor's in exercises sciences and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.
Connor Derrickson – Coach Connor Derrickson is a Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant at Webber International University. He currently designs & implements programs for WIU’s Men’s Volleyball. Along with being a graduate of Salisbury University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science, Derrickson has completed internships at Sacred Heart University and William Penn University. Derrickson is certified through the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Joshua Conner – Coach Joshua Conner is a Strength & Conditioning Graduate Assistant at Webber International University. He currently designs & implements programs for WIU’s Track and Field & Bowling programs. Along with being a graduate of The University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology, Joshua also has completed internships with Clemson University and The University of Tennessee as well as being certified through the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Mark Dessart – Coach Mark Dessart enters his second year at Webber and is directly responsible for all strength and conditioning operations for Men's Basketball and Women's Indoor and Beach Volleyball. Prior to Webber, Coach Dessart interned at the University of Iowa during the spring and summer of 2016 and worked with multiple teams. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in psychology.
Brittany Rassel – Dr. Brittany Rassel (Doctor of Physical Therapy) has been a physical therapist at Lake Wales Medical Center for the past 6 years. Her knowledge and expertise has been instrumental to the growth and development of the Webber Strength & Conditioning Department. She is also the wife and better half of Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Steve Rassel.
Steve Rassel – “Coach Raz” has served at Webber International University since 2009, currently as the Associate Athletic Director and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Prior to that, Coach Rassel’s career began with the Boston Red Sox, followed by a stint with the Chicago Cubs. Coach Rassel has spoken several times for the NSCA on Creating, Developing, Staffing, and Structuring your Strength & Conditioning Department, and was a finalist for the 2017 NSCA College Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year Award. Coach Rassel also serves on the NSCA College Coaches SIG Executive Committee, and is an Approved Mentor through the CSCCa.
Eric Krause – Coach Eric Krause is in his 7th year with Florida Gulf Coast University, getting his start with them in 2010 as an intern. He was most recently promoted to “Strength & Conditioning Associate Coordinator.” He works directly with Men’s Soccer, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, & Swimming & Diving at FGCU. Coach Krause is a 2008 graduate of Temple University with a BS in Exercise Science. He has also completed an internship at USF working under well-renowned Coach, Ron McKeefery. Krause is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist by the NSCA.
Zack Wallace – Coach Zack Wallace is in his 2nd year with Florida Southern College. He was named the first ever Head Strength & Conditioning Coach @ FSC, he works directly with all 24 sports team. Coach Wallace is a 2012 graduate from the University of Tulsa with a BS in Exercise Science. He is a former WIU Strength & Conditioning Alum, having completed the Intern-Assistantship (14-’15) & a year as an Assistant S&C Coach (15-’16). Coach Wallace has completed internships at the University of Tulsa, as well as working as a Sport Performance Coach in the private sector. Coach Zack Wallace is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist by the NSCA.
Tyler Ayers – Coach Tyler Ayers is in his 3rd stint with Webber International University. He was named the first ever Associate Head Strength & Conditioning Coach @ WIU. Coach Ayers works directly with Football & Softball, while overseeing all sports & the Intern/Mentorship program. He is a 2014 graduate from Anderson University with a BA in Exercise Science. He is a former WIU Strength & Conditioning Alum, having completed the Intern-Assistantship (14-’15) & a year as an Assistant S&C Coach (15-’16). Following the first 2 years at Webber, Coach Ayers became the first ever Athletic Performance Coach @ Lawrence University (Appleton, WI). He has completed internships with Anderson University (IN), Bethune-Cookman University, & Stetson University, including being named “Interim-Head Strength & Conditioning Coach” for the Hatters. Coach Ayers is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist by the NSCA.
