A WORD FROM YOUR DIRECTOR OF MISSIONS Observed on the first Monday in September, Labor Day pays special tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. The idea of a “workingmen’s holiday,” caught on in industrial centers across the country, and many states passed legislation recognizing it. We may not live in a so-called “industrial area” here, but we do have so many who work hard and give so freely of their time and energies to ensure that we have a quality lifestyle. Don’t forget to thank those who labor every day in our factories and fields.

Displays will be set up for you to see various missions and ministry opportunities throughout our area and through Monroeville First Baptist Church. Beatrice—Rev. Gus Jones, Interim Pastor September 27—Homecoming—11:00am—Rev. Glenn Eubanks will bring the message and will be joined by his wife, Sherri to share a medley of songs. Good food, fun, and fellowship will follow the service with a covered dish lunch in the fellowship hall. Everyone is invited to attend. Uriah—Rev.
