Serger Club Supply list November 2015 Gifts, Gifts, Gifts We will be making small gifts—-applying our basic serger techniques to projects we can give as gifts. You should be able to make 2-3 of the gifts. (If you have a machine that does a Cover/Chain stitch—-you can start with a Chain Stitch and finishes with 4 thread overlock for the Humbug or Zippered bag!) Bring to Club:  Serger with power cord and foot control**—-Machine Threaded according to the project you have chosen  Accessories---that came with your machine**  Any extra feet for your machine**  Everything on the Serger Club Basic Supply List**  Optional—rotary cutter** and cutting mat**, 1/4” Wonder tape**/ Basting tape**, 1/8 yd of Steam a Seam 2

The Humbug or Zippered Bag (4 thread Overlock or if your machine has it—-2 thread Chain Stitch) 3 sizes —- SMALL (4 1/2" x 5 1/2"), MEDIUM (5 1/2" x 7 1/2") and LARGE (7" x 9 1/2").

FABRIC:

SMALL —-2 fat quarters that match or coordinate (1/4 yd., 44" wide yields 4 bags—-same amount for lining) MEDIUM -2 fat quarters that match or coordinate (3/8 yd., 44" wide yields 4 bags—-same amount for lining) LARGE —-2 fat quarters that match or coordinate (3/8 yd, 54" wide yields 3 bags—-same amount for lining) 18”X 14” Thin, lightweight fusible polyester batting or fleece**

ZIPPER: SMALL —-12" zipper and 11" piece of 1/4" - 3/8" wide ribbon or twill tape MEDIUM - 15" zipper and 12" piece of 3/8" - 1/2" wide ribbon or twill tape LARGE —-18" zipper and 13" piece of 3/4" - 1" wide ribbon or twill tape

Needles: Schmetz Sharp or Microtex size 90/14** check your manual or machine for type of needle your machine requires

Threads: 4 threads polyester thread** that matches or coordinates with your fabric

Baked Potato Bag (wide three thread Overlock) Fabrics: 2 pieces of 100% cotton fabric (no metallic) 1 piece of 100% cotton quilt batting**

cut 11”X22” cut 11”X22” (warm and natural is not 100% cotton)

Needles: Schmetz Sharp or Microtex size 90/14** check your manual or machine for type of needle your machine requires

Threads: 3 spool of Mettler cotton thread** or 2 spools of Sulky’s 12wt. Cotton Solid or Blendables**, etc. 1 spool of Mettler cotton thread** that blends or matches your decorative threads **Available at the Redlands Sewing Center

Serger Basket (3 thread overlock) Fabric: 2 fat quarters 1 Thin, lightweight fusible polyester batting or fleece**

Needles: Schmetz Sharp or Microtex size 80/12**——-for Babylock sergers size 90/14** check your manual or machine for type of needle

Notions: 18” of boning**

Threads: 4 spools polyester thread** to match or grey 2 spools of Woolly nylon** or decorative threads like YLI”s Jean stitch** or Sulky’s 12wt. Blendables**, etc. 1 spool of polyester thread** that blends or matches your decorative threads

Minion Pillowcase (4 thread overlock) Pattern: Pillowcase pattern** by Mara Lukacs

Fabric: 3/4 yards yellow fabric for pillowcase body 1/2 yard blue for cuff 1 fat quarter or 1/8 yard of black fabric for goggles band and center of eyes 1 fat quarter or 1/8 yard each of grey and white fabrics for goggles, eyes and hair

Needles: Schmetz Universal size 80/12**——-for Babylock sergers size 90/14** check your manual or machine for type of needle

Threads: 4 spools polyester thread** to match or grey 1 spool black Mettler** polyester thread

Notions--12”X16” PS stabilizer** or any other pattern making paper, Sew-line** fabric glue stick Glass head pins**
