These items should always be purchased at Dublin Sewing Center to ensure that you have the correct product and to ensure that we can continue to teach these Clubs at a low price. Please remember, though, that we only carry a few of each item at a time so it is best to purchase your items prior to the class (in person or by phone). *Supply Notes 1. Plastic boning is sold by the yard at JoAnn Fabrics. It is usually found in a box in the notions area sometimes near the Velcro or strapping. Ridgeline is the most common brand. Boning is also sold with a fabric covering. It will also work – you will just remove the fabric covering before inserting it into the casing. Flexible rubber tubing can also be substituted for the boning (aquarium tubing from the pet store or rubber tubing from the hardware store – it’s about 1/4” thick).
Pre-Class Preparation: Cutting: (Note: All cutting must be done in the order listed. The cutting guide below was scanned from the instructions and is very light. You might need to print this page darker in order to see it well.) 1. From the quilter's cotton fabric, cut the following: • One 20" x 40" rectangle • One 10" x 24" rectangle 2. From the fusible interfacing, cut the following: • One 20” x 39-1/2” rectangle (This will only measure 20” if the interfacing is truly 20” wide. If it is slightly short and does not reach the edges of the fabric, it will be ok.) • One 10” x 23-1/2” rectangle 3. Fuse interfacing centered on the back of each rectangle following the instructions that come with the interfacing. 4. From the 20" x 40" fused rectangle, cut the following: • Two 20" x 16" rectangles • Two 10" x 8" rectangles 5. From the 10" x 24" fused rectangle, cut the following: • Two 10" x 12" rectangles 6. Fuse interfacing to the back of some of your scrap fabric and bring it for testing stitches.
One more cutting note: If your fabric is directional, the rectangles will be oriented as shown in the cutting guide above (the 16”, 8” and 12” sides are the top/bottom of each piece). Serger Set-Up 1. Set your serger for a 3-thread overlock with 12-wt. thread in both loopers and serger thread in the needle. Use a size 90 serger needle.
