Sermon Discussion Questions March 25, 2018 The Palm Sunday Problem – Matthew 21:1-15 1. How might you be trying to give Jesus an identity, an agenda, or a schedule that is not His? How does that affect your life? 2. How has success or suffering (or both) tempted you to turn away from Jesus to get life to go the way you’d like? 3. The crowds thought Jesus was going to be their political king. Jesus later told Pilate (John 18:36) that his kingdom was not of this world. What did he mean by that? In what parts of your life do you need to humble yourself before Jesus as Lord? 4. “When you’re praising the king you’ve made up, it’s easy to crucify the messiah right in front of you.” We want a king to fix the problems out there, but not necessarily a savior to fix the problems in us. What parts of your life need a savior to forgive, redeem, and restore? 5. How does Jesus give us an identity, an agenda, and a promise for the future? How does focusing on Jesus’ real identity, agenda, and future glory help you follow him here and now? 6. Where do you need to trust Jesus’ leadership and wisdom more? What steps will you take to do that? Who will help and encourage you in that?
